Default RROD... fixed in newer consoles? any preventative measures?

Got an xbox 360(arcade) for chrissy.. and got it modded that wkend.

Now i'm reading all this stuff about RROD and it's freakin me out a little..

Has the issue been fixed? google seems to turn up alot of old results and from what i understand there's been a few revisions since launch.

What sort of preventative measures can you take to increase the lifespan of the 360?

Cooling is the biggest issue. Keep it well ventilated and possibly use some sort of extra coolers on it to improve air flow. The newer the revision the less likely to suffer from the 3rrod fault, but like anything, there is no guarantee that it wont happen to even the very latest unit to come out.

I put external cooler on mine - 2 x fans suk all hot air of the back ... power via USB...only draw back is the fans on all time when plugged into mains ... I ran x360 from power board with on/off switch ...

I stayed clear from ones piggy back on main power ... they burn and shit !

Have seen it happen on a couple of the newer units, but nowhere near as the original mobo's.
