Default Do you own Uniden 350 or Garmin 255

    Hi,
I've narrowed down to these two GPS models.
    Uniden 350
    Garmin nuvi 255

If you own either of them then could you please inform if your GPS device has
    1. Spoken alert for saftey/red light camera
    2. Spoken alert for overspeeding
    3. Lane assist

I couldn't figure out from the manuals of either of them.

    Many Thanks for your help,
    Tejas.

    Hi Mate,

I have a Uniden Trax 430,which is essentially the same as a 350,mine has a bigger screen.
The operating software is Igo8,and the Maps are Sensis R15.

1.Spoken alert for safety/red light camera.NO,But Beeps while approaching, from wherever you set it,starting from 300 mtrs.

    2.Spoken alert for overspeeding.YES

3.Lane assist, dont think so(haven't used it a great deal),but lets you know via voice command when to turn left or right, and has an arrow pointing to the next, and the following turn, along with distance to it.
So knowing that, you will know what lane to get into.

    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

Have you read the APC review and the specific review at the end of the first post?

    iGO8 supports
ever present lane indicators for main roads and freeways
Multi-lane turn-offs at the end of freeways and major roads also get the benefit of an indicator at the bottom of the screen that shows which lane you need to be in to make the next turn.
Being in the bush, I don't see this feature

The iGO8 speed cam beeps are very aggravating, distance is adjustable ... but then you don't miss them

You can set the overspeeding alert as a percentage of the roads tagged speed ie over or under %.

This is excellent in the cities, but road speed information is sporadic once you're in the bush.

But then the Garmin product has an excellent bright display and solid features.

what operating system does the Uniden units use?
and can it be accessed to add other apps?
The 350 models are only $130 at a lot of country Shell servos(not Coles Express)

    Hi Kev,
The trax 430 runs WIN CE5,and IGO8,and I,m sure the 350 does too.
