    Default Invisible A drive

Can anyone explain why Windows XP always reports an A drive in my computer when clearly there is not one fitted?

Is that a Windows XP thing or a BIOS thing that shows the A drive?

Windows explorer reports at the top of the "My Computer" tree "31/2 Floppy A:" but the machine does not have one fitted.

you can just disable it from the BIOS as far as I am concerned.

Simple but effective advice. And I thank you for it. Now the logical next step is to ask why my system displays DVD-Ram drive (D) and CD Drive (E) when clearly there is only one physical device present, does it report both the functions of the one device separately or can I remove the CD Drive somehow and release the drive letter E for another device. The CD Drive (E) does not show in Windows disk management screen.
