    Unhappy Netgear WGS614 networking.

    Hi
First time poster so please be gentle.
I have a cable modem, a Netgear WGS614 wireless router, a D/top pc, hardwired to router and a laptop, with wireless connection to router in my home.
Both computers are set up and have full internet access with security encription enabled.
I want to access my D/top from my L/top and printer and visa versa?
I have tried enabling file sharing on both computers but cannot get this to work. I have gone into the router set up again but cannot see how to enable this?
I have all the computer IP. addresses etc. how can I get them to communicate with each other?
Can someone explain in plain language how to achieve this as I am pulling out what little hair I have left.
    Brian
