    Hi,

    Looks to me that your existing data.zip does not handle the resolution of the device.

    If you use the data.zip from this archive then it should be OK. Btw this is also the latest version of iGO8 (R1 not R3) which is the only version that Aus maps are available for.

    If you look in the iGO8 update thread you will see my post with the instructions on how to update to this version.

    Freakee what version did you update and are there any tricky bits and did you get it to work in portrait?
    I see on the Igo site there is a version for the Omnia wonder if it is just the res they have changed

    Hey Mal

    I downloaded all of the igo stuff from here - mucked around for a couple of hours and finally got it working. The stuff from Dazza worked for me.

    I have rar'ed it and uploading as we speak - so will edit this post later with the link from megaupload (4 hours to go)

    The file is 400 meg - just place it on the sd card and open file explorer and run the igo8.exe

    I am using port 7 for the gps at 4800 baud and it works fine

    Default iGO8 on i900

    Mal,

    The i900 version was 8.0.0.55127. This was the first version to support the i900's resolution.

    It can be found here (if the link is still OK).

    pass: squirrel

    The version I gave you earlier is one version later than this one but still has support for the i900 resolution.

    Anyway looks like freakee1 is uploading his working version etc.

    regards

    Hey Mal & Beckers

    just extract the rar and place the igo8 folder on your sd card
    use file explorer and open igo8.exe - no need to install anything

    The Aussie maps are on it as well

    Thanks to Dazza and Stormynight for the files

    Default File not found

    Beckers,

    It should work. Uninstall it from the i900 and then just copy the iGO8 folder onto an SD card.

    In the iGO folder (on the SD card) rename the application.dat file to iGO8.exe.

    Then copy all your contents ie maps, lang, voice etc into the SD folders then start by clicking the iGO8 exe.

    I've also just found another DL, if the above doesn't work then try this link:

    the author says that using the autorun instal works. the reason is that the i900 has both internal storgae as well as an SD card so sometime the install process uses the wrng one.

    regards

    ps maybe ask the other guys that have managed to get it going to tell you how.

    regards

    Default Try freakee1's method first

    Guys,

    Sorry while I was was putting together my last post it looks like freakee1 was also busy. As he has it all working it might be wise to try his method first.

    regards

    G'day, glad your 1 step closer....

    Do you know your GPS port & Baud rate?

    If so, you can edit your sys.txt and add the following lines or edit them if they already exist...

    [gps]
    background_navigation=1
    logging=0
    port=3
    baud=57600
    protocol=nmea
    disable_advanced=0

    I got this info from here...

    It seems some people had different settings for the baud rate, some have 4800? but if you have a look at the site, you may be able to work out what you settings should be. Also do you have any other GPS software that works that you can get the settings from?

    Cheers

    Hey Beckers

    my omnia has the following settings- and mine works a treat

    under Settings/system/external gps

    GPS Program port is Com7
    GPS Hardware port is Com 9
    Baud rate is 4800
    access has the manage GPS automatically ticked

    igo8 looks at Com7 baud 4800

    Are yes, I read somewhere that that unit has a port splitter, but i wasn't sure if it was aftermarket or not.

    I have the same problem - can only assume that because it hasn't been installed it doesn't go in the programs folder - and I have tried to place it in there manually - failed, so off to programs, file explorer I go each time - I'm happy and as it is going well - I'm going to leave it

    Dazza and Stormy are the ones who get the kudos - I only mucked around a bit and shared the version I got going on the samsung

    Glad you got it going

    Default Program shortcuts

    Guys,

    I'm not sure how you do this in the i900 but I run a win6.0 pda which is a windows mobile like device. Given the the i900 is also a windows mobile device it should also have a 'start menu' just like the pda's.

    In my device you can start programs via the main program screen if they have been installed by just clicking the icon which is put there by the "install" procedure or you can add "program shortcuts to the "start menu" which is a list of other programs that are available etc.

    The folder that these "shortcuts" usually go into is windows/start menu folder.

    To create shortcuts use explorer and go to the folder where the iGO8.exe file is, right click it and select create shortcut. After you have done that it will create a file in that folder which is probably named 'shortcut to iGO8.exe'.

    Rename this to whatever you want ie iGO8 then copy and paste it into the windows/start menu folder, and then you can start it from the 'start menu'.

    You can do this also for other programs (.exe) that you might want to run. Usually howevver there is a limit to the number of shortcuts you can have in the windows/start menu folder afterwhich the shortcut will be put into the start menu programs folder.

    Hope this helps

    OK - use explorer to go to the sd card, igo8 folder, use the stylus to click and hold on the igo8.exe file and copy it - now using explorer, go to my device, windows, start menu, programs - click on the menu icon in the far bottom right hand corner, click on edit and then Paste shortcut - I also renamed mine to remove the "shortcut to" bit

    and it works, with a nice icon
