    Default Exhaust Question

have a 2.5 inch sports exhaust on the 6 banger falcon, between cat and muffler it has a resonator welded inplace.the exhaust has a good note but the muffler has had it and is starting to let go around exit pipe at rear of muffler. ive come across a new dynomax performance muffler but having no welder ive searched seeing if there is a way to "join" exhaust pipe and muffler together without welding.

ive come acros these clamps in the states and am wondering if anything similar resides here.

ive read about v clamps but they require flanges to be welded onto the pipe dont they?

    appreciate and muffler/exhaust gurus help

The link wont work for me.

If the muffler has no flange on it (a widened 2 inch part that slips over your old pipe) you can buy a small 3 to 4 inch piece that fits over both the old pipe and new muffler if the pipes are the same size.

This piece has a cut (slit) in both ends so as you tighten the exaust clamps, the piece contracts around your muffler and exhaust pipe.

Some muffler sealant helps ensure no leaks.

Having said all that, exhaust places charge next to nothing to fit them welded.

cost me $20 to get a muffler cut off and my new one put on (I supplied parts)

its not worth f**king around with clamps and added sleeve pipes, when a shop will charge you SFA and take about 20 min if their slow!
