    Default Am I in trouble

I was in the process of flashing my 360 Liteon drive and got to where you erase the firmware and my computer crashed. Now the drive won't open and when I put it back in the 360 I get an Error E64 which is to do with the drive.

    Am I stuffed?

Smithster i did exactly the same thing tonight, except my computer i don't think crashed it was the programs i was using to erase and write the new key, i used jungle flasher, with a via card, all worked well to extract the key and to erase the drive as i got the correct messages, but i could not flash the drive with the new key using jungle flasher.

I downloaded dosflash32 and used that instead to load the new key, worked a treat.

I was really stressing thinking i had stuffed my unit, as i got the exact same result when i plugged the drive back into the xbox 360 so what happened to you is no big deal just download dosflasher32 the latest version and choose write (use the CFW.bin file you made earlier) and all will work i am sure.

    Good Luck.

    Darren.

nah, I believe these fellas are unbrickable...as long as you have a good copy of the key (which you must have if you were erasing it).

you do not need the drive to open if you are flashing it(it is only for key extraction)

if you are struggling to flash it in windoze may I suggest you try to do it in DOS? Check over on the X-S forums several people have had your problem and have overcome it in this way. I have had no trouble in windows but found jungleflasher to be buggy (I use dos flash)

    good luck mate

Cool, yeah fairly sure I've got a good key etc. Used both Jungleflash and CK3tool and was susccessful on both extracting the key. Just fell apart at the erasing/flashing phase.

Do you need to boot to dos to use dosflasher?

No i dosflasher is dos based but just go to command prompt, i was going to do this but did not really have any great instructions to follow, and after doing a quick search discovered that dosflash32 works in windows (XP was what my older machine that i was moding it with had on it).

You can get doshflasher from here (hope this is allowed)

And a bit of a tutorial to help out here, just look at the last step and i think you will be all good.

if you get stuck let me know as only 1 hour ago i was doing exactly what you are trying to do now.

might need to power the 360 drive on and off to get dosflasher32 to recognise it, i had to do this a few times to get software to see drive.

Using a CK3 Lite. Powering it on and off is making no difference.

Grab 2 programs dosflash 1.7 and L-0-eras and your hacked bin file put them onto a bootable usb or floppy,
boot to dos, turn on the drive then run l-o-eras, it should come back with status ff52.
type l-o-eras but dont press enter yet.
power off the drive, wait a sec, power up the drive and press enter within a second or 2.
should return status ff72, but you prolly get ffd2 and thats fine
just keep trying it will eventually return status ff72
run dosflash and write the firmware with the liteon w command.
if still no luck make sure all hdd and cd drives are unplugged, try a different sata port and another sata cable

Hmmmmm, I go to dos and type l-o-eras 9C00, the computer crawls along until I get a status of FFFF.

    What does this mean?

    yeh, what justolder said.
if it doesn't return ff72, u'll need to power cycle the xbox drive and it should return ff72.
once you got ff72, power cycle the drive once more, wait a few seconds then type dosflash....then choose (w) write.....then type the name of your hacked lite-on fw that you have saved earlier.

Wellllll. After stuffing around for the past few days I may have finally been successful. I ended up doing it in dos with dosflash however where tutorials told me that you had to remove via drivers if you were using a via Sata port I found that it wouldn't work for me. I had to reinstall the Via driver and on the 2nd try it worked. Stoked!!! Cheers for all the help guys.

There is a newer revision of jungleflasher out now.
Most people have recommended like you said to either uninstall the via drivers or update them. Most of the bugs are actually from peoples VIA cards. And like someone said a few posts above me the lite-on is basically un-brickable, just for future reference for others who might read this make sure you got the drive key first.

Also you can now use a lot of onboard sata chipsets to flash your drives - you dont have to have via or nforce anymore. If you want to try this turn on legacy mode for your onboard sata chipset in BIOS have the 360 drive connected to the 1st sata port and your hard drive you are booting from on your 2nd port - disconnect everything else - then try and read the dvd key, if it can then your onboard sata chipset is fine to use. Remember you cant use native sata mode - it needs to be set to legacy in BIOS.

I can confirm it works fine on an ICH9 intel chipset on a gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L board.
