I have all the info you need.

I advise against it, HD will kill that product whithin 12 months.

You need to import at least 30 to make it worthwhile mate.

    Got 10 grand spare?

They are about $250US landed atm.

Sounds like you are suggesting ALL Foxtel, Austar, Aurora, UBI will be HD within 12 months
That I701 will be HD in 12 months
That all other Sats will be HD.
That everyone will own a HD TV in everyroom of thier house in 12 months.
That there will be no SD broadcast and that all Pay TV providers will be swapping all the SD STB in peoples homes.

Ok, i'm a betting man.... i'm willing to watch this space and see if the DM7020 that can be used as a server (unlike some HD boxes)is killed within 12months.

Although it is fair to say, if you were about to spend $500 on a new STB, you might as well get one with dual tuners and HD with HDMI

Usually I can't be bothered responding to your posts.

I'll just respond this time to make sure others don't get mislead by your ill thought out assertion.

The Dm7020 is a piece of crap as a server....

Turn the power on and off on your 7020 with an external card reader on the serial port and it will just sit there like a stunned jackdaw, it will not boot, it will just hang and stay that way.

    A DM500s as a dedicated server shits all over a 7020 as a server.

And why even use an external card reader? Mr. Can't Be Bothered. (how's that Occy 918 as a server????)

And clearly at 4999 posts, you can be bothered to respond!
Lets see here, whom at 12 months ago was selling a bunch of DM7020's????
    Mmmmmmm not i.......

Must be someone else...... Anyway Big Fella... Carry on.
I wasn't the one to suggest the DM7020 will be killed in 12 months.... but i will be watching.
As it is such a poor machine with such lacking support.......

End of the day, it's just a bloody STB.. one thats does lots of things.

Only if it is a whitey in an external reader, else it is the other way around altogether.

    Newcs
    Newcamd
    Camx
    CCCam
    gbox

all work better on the 7020 then the 500 using the internal slots, by a country mile

But as for HD not much use stressing if you don't
have a HD TV if you ask me

Both are a dam sight better than a Octagon 918 as a server

Not that, that is the point here....
A guy asked if the DM7020 can be imported, you said its a waste of time and HD will kill it.

    Now thats misleading people!
Unless you know something the rest of us don't?

Yep...7020 fine as a standalone client, and fine if you don't have a HD TV, and fine if your provider doesn't have HD content.

You can always start your 2009 campaign...

Given that ajax has found his answer and that the thread has now wandered way off topic and onto other subjects I'll close this thread.
