Unhappy searchindexer.exe running at 100% in XP

    Hi Guru's

I'm running XP Home SP3 on a Dell Inspiron 8600, with f-Secure Inernet Security 2009.

The system has been VERY sluggish for a while and I have just noticed that Task Manager is showing searchindexer.exe running at or near 100% constantly.

Google tells me that this is a Windows system task (some entries say that it belongs to Vista) but I don't know where it resides or how to turn it off other than ending the task (which will only solve the problem until it launches again), or even if it is posssible/safe to disable it or turn it off.

I'm sure that someone out there will know more than I do and can hopefully give me some advice .... PLEASE.

    Cheers

    Thanks Hoe

MUCH better! Just wondering what functionality I've lost (if any)? Not that I think it is likely to bother me as much as the sluggish system before!!

    Cheers
