Server 2003 - Mandatory Profiles Issue
I have recently started to learn how to setup and manage a Windows Server 2003 System. I have set up the domain controller, active directory, the dns server and other roles such as a print and file server.
However i have managed to apply Group Policies to all users however, there is a slight issue, i have tried to enable mandatory profiles for some users, i have copied the NTuser.dat file from the profile i set up, and have placed it in \\HQWINSRV1\UserProfiles\ntuser.man (.man = mandatory profile)
I then went to edit the user and make it's profile path to that file, however nothing happens, i logon and the custom wallpaper isn't there, i can change the wallpaper, log off, log back on and still have it there. Have i missed something or done something wrong?
Please help me!

you can do evry thing with GPO's
create diffrent OU's put the diffrent users in each OU and then apply diffent GPO's
Every thing can be done in a GPO you just need to take the time to find the setting , from desktop wall paper to not being able to add anymore printers and most importantly they are being push from the server to the user so permissions dont come into it.
the last thing you want is for a user to need to have admin rights to be able to do a simple task, cause then you have opened a door and if there is a way they will find it. i call them players
any ??? PM me

The "Restricted Users" group has
Read Group Policy & Apply Group Policy to Group Enabled.
As for the ntuser file, does it need to have specific permissions enabled?
