Does this set have a AX-1 chassis ?????
Hi all,
Has anybody had anything to do with this model B4? We have one that intermittantly comes up with an error code on the front LED. It flashes 10 times. Service manual is coming but back-ordered. It weighs 90kg and the customer is, err, not very happy as its a recall. Funny how all the jobs owned by people like this become recalls or the parts go on backorder or whatever

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

I feel your pain
Heres the service manual

hey guys, i hate anything sony. all we seem to get are the big buggers!!
try ic6400-mcz3001 (near flyback) is the hoz protect buffer ic. is another 1 nearby which handles vertical. if u swap em the the error should change to 6 flashes.
hope this helps, have had a few with this problem now
cheers steve
Thanks Fernbay, I did google but musnt have used the right phrase or something. You always said my computer skills were and I guess you were right
Stepwah, will check this out and let you know......
Hey Stepwah, those ics are in the primary power supply. you sure they are for the functions you describe? not that i am in a position to doubt as i dont have the circuit, just the service mode manual from the link above......
Hi there,
Yes he is right, I had the same issue too. Ended up being the same IC. You can also purchase them from WES very cheap.
Regards,
Arty
Thanx fellas, 2 IC's on order, will just replace both and soak test for a year or two. Will let ya know what happens.........
BTW, in the service manual where it says to clear error buffer, step 2 reads "press (8) then (12). That appears to be a misprint. There is no 12 button. I did it by trial and error and came up with (8) then (0). Good ol' Sony always manages a misprint or two in every manual.
Yeah yeah iwac, you know i was talking about the set smarty panties...
Havent you got some work to do???????????????
Stepwah, after a long, beer soaked discussion with Fern Bay last night, I found out your true identity. Hows Frankie treating you these days?
SOS - same ol situation
nothing ever really changes
Yeah, I bet. Oh, by the way, the Sony appears to be fixed. I'm not going to say IS fixed 'cause then it will stop for sure, you know how sensitive Sony's are when you talk about them......
As for recalls always being associated with certain types of customers, remember O'briens Law which states
" Murphy was an optimist "
Common sense isn't !!!
I had one of my techs ask me if I had ever encountered a Sony KP-FW46M31 with this strange fault that set would not turn back on after warm up and shut down. Checked the unit over and found the same LED flash sequence as indicated in the early part of this thread. Turns out it has same IC's and Loc No's and same cure to boot!
Thanks techs for posting this cure, it has inadvertently stop me asking for a cure on the forum just because I check posts every couple of days!
You want to do what exactly with that screwdriver?
I have one of these tvs..no faults yet but being a tech myself have always run it in eco mode. less beam current less problems. anyway ive heard that the caps on the powersuply need replacing once its 5-7 years old. still...good tv..compared to the plasmas from same era.
