A free one .... that works.
there are thousands. too many. narrow it down for us a little, and we'll tell you our personal opinions. tell us what categories, if you will, and i may say a few that i know of. favourite for on a budget, strong 4658x.
my question comes from hearing much about a few brands like dreambox and fortec star (sp?), what makes them so special?
narrow it down, ok, if you had say $500 to spend on a decoder which one would you buy and why
haha farmsky ill pose it different to you, if you could get one for free, which one would you want and wy
its hard to say what is best if there is such a thing as best I have 14 decoders yes some are better than others and yes some are cheep some are well a little on the rich side. I guess what I'm trying to say is you need to find what is best for you what do you want from a decoder an go from there
$500 budget... hmm... i would probably have an array of different receivers. some kind of Dream Box for CS and PVR, a strong 4658x for good, and an ID digital CI-24 sensor, as they have the best tuner i've seen. and for terrestrial, i can't go past healing, or strong for a PVR.
I Have tried the Strong decoders user friendly menu and their after sales service is great but blind scanning is very slow.
I have a Maxplus 2700s (Sattronics has them) and they are a very good blind scanner in my opinion.
I do not think there is a all purpose decoder on the market.
So as other members have stated it all depends on what your requirements are.
quite right marty. depends on your requirements and usage, and application. if budget is not an issue, then you can get a satellite receiver that does everyhing you want and more.
