wow....
I guess your not a sparky or are you joking.
You have a HOT neutral caused by your fluoro.
what are you using for an earth, due you have a connection between the fluoro chasis and the toilet pipes. ?
g'day ppl
i have a powerpoint i wired myself wired from house powerpoint to outside dunny only using 2 wires it goes into a floro light then out to powerpoint ,originally it was just for light but i then wanted to hook up a a wireless network & outside dunny was best position so i wired the powerpoint from the light...
now for some odd reason when the wifi ap powerpack is plugged in with powerpoint switched off i'm getting a slight zap from the powerpack connector,
its output is 5vDC 2.5 amp its a cheap switchmode powerpack from jaycar
the original power pack for ap blew up over 12months ago..
now the ap works fine but it only runs for about a week then i have to switch off then leave for few hours then turn it back on for another week..
just wanting to know if its my shonky wireing or i need a better power pack &
can someone tell me where i can get a decent one in melb.. btw the ap only needs 2amps ... thanks in advance.

no joking & aint a sparky & no earth at all well ap is a external unit homemade in a alum case & it is earthed but floro aint earthed..
u might very well soon be CRISP kringle lol
KRINGLE mate leave the plug pack in the house and just extend
the wires from that to outside that will be defenetly your
safest bet
mango CRISP kringle lol LMFAO
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
ok looks like the lack of earth is my problem.. right so i'll fix it today by rewiring with 3 core & that should fix the problem. i'll allso add a junction box so the powerpoint aint directly wired to light.. thanks for insight..
People who are not sparkies and have little understanding of basic electrical principles scare me...
The potential for someone to be plated or for a kid to come along and die from someone's bodgy installation is huge.
No earths, connections twisted together, mains run using 300 ohm ribbon cable, transposed phase and neutral .. all just accidents waiting to happen.
Problem is, I come across all these things and more in my day to day work.
Why people take risks with electricity is beyond me.
As Kevin Bloody Wilson says "We're the only tradespeople that work with something that ya can't see!"
I thought Kevin Bloody Wilson was a teacher not a sparky
He worked as a sparky in the mines at Kalgoorlie some years before he was a comedian.
I'm trying to work out what the guy in your avatar is doing before he gets the BSOD.
un****inbeleiveable
Right on RHCP, here's the full size image (I had to reduce it for my avatar).
the light that I originally wired is of a type that has no earth. my minor mistake was later down the track wiring a powerpoint in & just not thinking that it would need to be earthed so its a minor mistake even sparkys make mistakes sometimes. cos i have one next door thats made a few & he's been doing it for 30+ years & its my first time i've stuffed up & ive done a fair bit of rewiring around my place over the years.. anyway ive fully rewired it all with 3 core & its all working 100% now, sure if it was major worked need to be done i would get a sparky but minor work aint worth paying for IMO ..
No we don't and if we do its normally only once!
But I bet you'll still front up, hand outstretched to the insurance co after someone plugs in a diff appliance that pulls too much giddy up for your 3 core flex to handle and burns down ya dunny.
