    Default iTechworld strike's again

Had a customer bring in a Wii last night with the fault that it wont read disks. He said it boots up to the dash fine just wont read disks. He went on to say he had took the unit into itechworld and left it with them and some 3 weeks later when he had not heard from them, he went back and was told that they couldnt fix it. So he asked for the unit back and they told him to come back later. He went back later and collected the unit and took it home. When he plugged it in this time, it wouldnt even accept disks. Anyway he ran into a friend of mine who advised him that I would probably be able to repair it, so it ended up on my desk. When I pulled the unit apart the morning, I was completely stunned to find that the control board on his DVD drive had been swapped for a dead d2e board. His machines serial number is LAH1012xxxx so it would have had a dms, d2a or d2b in it. Aside from the fact that it was a d2e, it was an epoxy version and someone had tried to dig the epoxy away on the power connector side of the chip and almost dug a hole through the board and also damaged the chips on the d2e chip itself.

I am just totally astonished that there are those out there who are so dishonest, yet they still seem to get work taken to them time and time again. Needless to say, this client wont be going back to them ever again, and im sure he will be telling everyone he knows to steer clear of them.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

This bloody happens all the time, the stories I hear from my customers gets me angry, I always allow for exaggeration, but when I check the system, I find what the customer said is not only true but only knows half of what happened.
I can post heaps of stories regarding what I consider to be down right theft.
I blame the authorities for all these shonkers. Consumer affairs is an insult to tax payers.
I use to encourage my customers to go to consumer affairs, until I realized it was a total waste of time.
Consumer affairs don’t employ a tech so when they receive a complaint they contact the business, of course the crap head starts bull sh---ing, and the dumbo representing consumer affairs wouldn’t know what the hell their talking about, what do they do, simply phone the complainant tell them to take it back to the store and they will repair it.
The customer has already had enough stress, from the moron and simply doesn’t trust their items with that idiot anymore and hence either nothing happens, or the customer has to pay 35 bucks to take it further.
What crap. Consumer affairs needs to employ the appropriate employees
Consumer affair should ask the complaintet to bring in the pc or whatever, have a tech check it out diagnose whether its hardware or software. Just like what you did cwispy. Once analyzed and confirmed it is the blunder of the retail store they inform the consumer and ask whether they want to take it back to the store for repairs, or have the option to take it some where else or have the tech @ consumer affair repair it
Then invoice the so called retail store.
Allow only 3 justified complaints; once they have reached this amount close them down
These bums get away with it way to much.
Around 100 plus dollars buys you a business name with a license to steal [incredible]

People work for there money, all they want is there item to be repaired, no one is perfect & we all make mistakes, nothing wrong with admitting them, but there is a hell of a lot wrong with ripping people off

and others too... had a similar situation with a mate of mine from sydney who sent his console to a particular place on goulburn st.

Will not go into the detail but was very unimpressed with how he was treated (I was there to witness the final meeting with these guys, all meetings in between I only heard his side) - I am embarrassed that I recommended him to go there

Good post cwispy, hence why I am bringing my grandson's ps2 to you for repair. Suggest anyone in Perth do the same.

The content of this thread bewilders me.

I went to iTechworld to get my Wii modded and it was absolutely fantastic!

The customer service was fantastic! They fixed my box within 45 minutes. In fact I just went around the corner to get lunch and got a call and the box was done. BRILLIANT!

The staff were friendly and obviously experts in the field.

My Wii is working SO GOOD.
    Highly recommend iTechworld.

Nice of you to join Austech to pass on your personal experience.

I'm sure they'll be thrilled to learn of one satisfied customer.

Especially for a thread that's over 3 years old.
