If the samples are still available can I grab one, been doing a fair few wii's lately and would like to see hows these go.
Hey Everyone,
As you would have heard there is a few next gen Wii chips coming onto the market in the coming months to tackle the new D3 / D2Nothing drives and the will be the first, we expect our first stocks to arrive on the 17th of Feb. We want to give out some samples to known installers to check them out and see what they can do and if they have any problems and report back, the main one we wish to have installers checkout is if any game has issues loading textures because of the slower read speed, and other general things like compatibility for out of region games, would also be good to see if they are sensitive to using only quality media like Verbatim how the WiiKey 2 and other 6-wire chips can be.
I know chips like the DriveKey are a touchy subject for some installers as they feel they could loose market because people can do it at home, but like I was saying to a few of our installers the other day I don't think you will have to much to worry about in that department as most people just want to drop off their console and have it modded and don't care if you are soldering something in or just clipping a chip like the DriveKey on, they pretty much are looking for a service and don't want to open their console, just drop it off and pick it up kind of thing and have someone they can ask directly for support after install. Solderless chips have been in the market for a while now and most have not seen any dramatic drop in installs because of it, so we don't think chips like the DriveKey are going to be any different.
Anyway enough about that, the first three installers that can PM us and request a sample to be sent out will receive them as soon as our stock arrives, if you could just do some basic testing and send us your results that would be great.

you know the drill mate
Thanks for the quick replies guy's, PunX0r send me a PM mate and you can grab the last DriveKey sample.
Just to make things easier for me, the guys that sent PM's last night can you send another PM with your shipping address please? Just makes it easier than trying to look them up when it comes time to ship. Shane and Ian you don't need to worry about doing that.
All the samples are now taken, the guy's that sent the PM's in last night you will be getting the DriveKey samples the day after we receive our stock.
Should be interesting to see how these DriveKey modchip stack up compared to the WiiKey 2, if you guys can have a play around with some GameCube games as well, they don't have the audio fix and just want to see if GC games are playable.
After testing if you could post up your findings good or bad on this topic so we can all compare results, we will be doing the same after our testing here, we still have a D3 drive here we can check them out on as well.

Geez, they're pricey. I suppose price will come down a bit before those particular models become the norm though.

Hey Dave,
Received my Drivekey today thanks i have just installed this into my personal Wii which has a GC2-D2C chip and it is full functional (that i can tell) i have installed pre your install video and i agree that it is the best place to have it i have tested this on verbatim,lg,sony discs -R and all work flawless i am really impressed with the time it takes to read and load its 100% faster than my previous d2cKey I have tried all features with the 3 eject trick and was quite happy with the autoboot feature (lazy boot) install was very very easy
and i think they have really screwed Nintendo now !!! lol
i will report back when there's more to tell..
time to put her back together and get the neighbours kids around !!
Looks great Dave

First up I'd like to thank Dave for the DriveKey sample.
I installed the DriveKey on a D2C today with ease and in under 10mins. The Drivekey sits nicely in the recommended location as per the Modsupplier video. All DVD-R media I have thrown at the console has all worked perfectly inc.Verbatim, Sony, Immation, LG, Ritek and TDK. The slower read speeds don't seem to be a problem and I haven't come across any texture loading issues or Region Compatibility problems with any of the Wii games (PAL/NTSC) I've tried. Unfortunately I don't have any GameCube games to test.
I did have some trouble at first entering the Config menu but realised I was making the button presses to slowly.
The cost of these chips are rather expensive compared to other solderless chips on the market but for the ease of installation and no risk of damaging the drive with a solder install I would recommend the DriveKey Modchip to anyone wanting to mod their Wii.
I will give the console a decent workout over the next few days and see if I can come up with anything else.
.
Anyone tried gamecube games yet
If I want too,I can, I will
Just ordered one of these and a 2nd hand LG GDR-8163B dvd rom drive on the way too.
Hopefully even a mug like me can install this pass-through device into a Wii
Where can i get these one in Perth?
