One mates house in Wondong survived (as he was leaving he could hear gas bottles exploding) and another mates unconfirmed but prob lost there. Another guy I know of in Kinglake left his house when the windows started exploding to jump in his car to get out with melting indicator lenses etc. Bloody lucky to be alive. Don't know if it was the smartest thing to do but you'd have to be in that situation to know.

Default Suburbian Melbourne, this just isnt right!!!!

My wife and I just could not believe this was happening in our own neighbourhood. You live with the threat of fires in the bush, no the less devastating, but in metro melbourne, to loose so many houses in a few hours leaves you speechles.

CFA units turned up all the way from the Ballarat area, Philip Island and even several MFB units. All up I would sat over 15 to 20 units all up, they must have been stretched though, it was over 40 minutes before the first units arrived. Hundreds of residents fought initially to put out the grass fire that threatened dozens of houses on coral park drive but those in seebeck dv where not so lucky.

These pictures where taken yesterday in the Narre Warren Sth Seebeck drive fires.

The entire community was fantastic, it didnt matter who you where, they where standing together.

On Sky news this morning it said that 25 lives were lost and maybe up to 40. I would like to get hold of the arseholes that lit them. Would only need a couple of minutes to show them the error of their ways.

Our sympathy to all who have lost loved ones and also property.

Yep , watching Sky News now and thats where its at. My sister in law lives in Bendigo and going on those reports the fire would be about 1 km from them.

I know of a few of our members in the fire areas and have not heard from them since yesterday and the fires were very close to them they told me.

I just hope they are all ok, these fire starter when caught should be set on fire and let them burn.

Last week I heard reports of a welfare organization being fined $1000.00 by their greenie local council.

They cut the grass in the first place because the CFA told them it was a fire risk. I hope council stupidity like that is exposed and prevented in future.

Just spoke to mate who's house was in Strathewen. He couldn't talk as mob battery going flat. All he had time to say was family are safe and he lost the lot. I since found out he was on the cfa truck that found the 3 dead fellas in the car there also.
He was out on the truck yesterday and his family had gone to her parents as there is aircon and a pool for the kids so they have nothing more than the shirts on their backs.
Other residents around him stayed to fight and they all lost their houses. So even if you stay to fight there's no guarentee that you'll do any good. I still can't believe how bad this fire is and it's still going.

It is hard to imagine what is happening in Victoria... we haven't had a dry day for over 30 odd days here in Townsville.

I am in Whittlesea, fortunately we are OK here, but the last 24 hours has been pretty tough as I have family and friends that I know have lost their house and still haven't been able to contact them.

Brother inlaws place was just starting to burn in heathcote junction when "ELVIS" the water bomber dumped on it, his place is the only one in the street that is still there.

I guy I know who last year had to pay 16k in fines for dropping around 40 trees from his property (after a permit was rejected) has made it through and all his neighbours places are to the ground.

    Still waiting on more news....

Wyong Council fines property owners for installing rain water tanks if they are visible from the road or neighbours properties because they are an eyesore.
