Frame by frame technology?
I'm from Brisbane. What sort of equipment do you have? I have a bit to do if the price is good.I may have upto 9000ft.
would love fbf if you have it farmsky
Asked the same question a couple of years ago.
Ended up buying a Samsung DVD HR 735 recorder and doing it myself.
Had to do about 30 tapes and took friggin ages.
Samsung worked well but later when trying to play 'normal' (ie rented or factory) dvd's it won't play most of them. Doesn't recognize the discs.
Out of warranty now so discovered that too late.
Tried communicating with the seller I got it of, Audioland online, They told me to send it back to them. When I asked where to send it (several times now) they just never returned an answer.
Found out since there are other people with the same problem with this model.
So don't buy from Audioland online (ebay seller) and give Samsung a miss.
What is fbf
When I did it years ago, I used a vhs video camera and then played it through a digital camera conected to pc with firewire. Didn't have to buy any equipment and I couldn't imagine a better result.
The digital capture is synchronised with the projector and each 8mm frame is captured as a digital image. Each and every one.
Whilst I have no connections, you can read about the process or .
Would that mean you wouldn't fit much on a dvd?
Theres an Agfa photolab in Creek St Brisbane that does it, I had a few small reels done there and it was a reasonable result, cost more than what I thought it was worth though.
It's a real time process so the more film you do, the longer it takes, the more it costs.
I don't know about fbf technology, but I assume the result will be as close to perfect as it gets.
the other option I have is to buy a machine and do it myself then sell it. Has anybody had any dealings with this type of equipment? I'm looking for brand names/models that I should be looking for.
Farmsky , I also do 8mm conversions , would be interested in what kinda equipment your using .
Cheers
JH
johnhoward, are you interested in converting some for me? If not what gear do you use. I might end up buying some myself
I have a few different types , one I use all the time is called the work station , basicaly its a converted 8mm projector with 3ccd imager attached to it , its then fed into a canopus advc 300 then to a capture machine , I also have an assortment of sankyo machines which do the audio side of things , we also convert most other formats VHS , VHSC , 8mm Reels , HI 8 Tapes , DV Tapes , 35mm slides and also do computer repairs.

FBF transfers is probably the best way to go for the best results , at this stage of the game we dont do this type of transfer as we dont get much call for it , but that may change in the near future.
