    Default SelectTV LNB Skew

I originally had aurora now trying to re-adjust my dish for SelectTV.

I noticed two settings for LNB, one 11300, and on 10700.

Since I originally had aurora and used 11300 I would guess then I continue to use that.

Now, I don't understand the LNB skew. I can see 0-45deg left/right on it but not sure where you take the zero from?

I.E Is it when the cable coming out the back in directly pointing down?

Then I would turn it clockwise until I hit 24deg?

    Name: 166.0E Intelsat 8

    Declination Angle: 6.0°
    Dish Elevation: °
    Elevation: 41.0°
    Azimuth (true): 31.4°
    Azimuth (magn.): 19.4°
    LNB Skew [?]: 24.2°

    G'Day, Cobber,
You've got the general idea. Yes, cable at 6' O'clock to start.
If you have a Sat-meter or can see the signal bar on the TV, adjust for maximum with the STB set on 12526 Horizontal / 28800 Symbol Rate.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".......

    Thanks B4L :-)

I'm about to do a wobbly, I cannot get any signal strength at all, yet aurora is find when I go back to those settings.

I think I may have the dish either pointing to far down or up for selectv compared to aurora.

One thing I don't understand is these two for sat direction.

    Azimuth (true) 31.4deg
    Azimuth (magn) 19.4 deg

I assume if using a compass I should you 'magn' 19.4deg

    G'Day,
    Slow down to a gallop.
Before you go shifting the dish, Carefully mark the Elevation on the bracket and the Azimuth on the POLE. That way you can always come back to that setting for C1.
Your Dish would have been on 17 degrees True for C1, so you need to come 14 degrees right or to the East.
The elevation would have been 45 degrees, so you need to come down 14 degrees.
If you do very minor adjustments around that, you should have no problems.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid "....

    Talking Offset dish angle.

You may think the dish is pointing too low, but that's the way they work.

Well after kicking the missus and the dog I'll try again tomorrow

I did mark C1 before I did anything, so if I do end up completely cracking the poop I'll go back to aurora and sell off the select card.

My dish is offset so I it looks like I have it pointing to far up.

Well, with the help of a sat finder I managed to find SelectTV.

I've done the scan, picked up the channels and rang SelectTV to activate the card.

Problem atm is the card isn't activating and the Selectv mob said it should be.

I'm getting just over 75% signal strength so wondering if that preventing the card activating?

When I put the card in it says accepted, but then I get the Staus 16 error that says The card has no rights for this service.

Make shore you have it on a scrambled channel ( Movie one or TCM ) Also make shore that the card is inserted the right way & than again call them & ask them to send you the activation for your card ,wait abou 5 minutes & you should get pictures .
PS. If you can get the selectv advertising channel than I say your signal is ok & can get activated .
    Good luck.

I will say that when I went to activate my card, it was not going to work and that was in their box.

After some stuffing around it was decided that the card was u/s.
They sent me another card and when it arrived chucked it in the slot waited 5 min and had pics

I've been leaving it sitting on a scrambled movie channel and every now and again changing it to another one with no luck, still status 16.

I have spoken to them again and they resent the activation and still no luck.

I asked for a new card and they said I would have to speak with the mob I purchased it from and that they also can not offer anymore help as I'm using a humax 5400 and not one of their boxes.

The card is the correct way up.

In manual search on your 5400 enter, 12526-H-28800 3/4.
This will download the SelectTV channels and the free to air Select home screen. You don't need a card to see this channel.

If you don't get the Select download you are probably aligned to D2.
Manual search 12408-V-30000 2/3, If you get a download of a great stack of free to air God botherers then you are certainly on D2 and will have to move your dish a bit more to the East and down a bit.
    Hope this helps.

    Duck.
I do see the SelectTV channels and the free select home screen.

While trying to activate the card I've been leaving it on on of the movie channels and occassionally changing to the next movie channel.

Still get the error 16 with it saying "The card has no rights for this service"

Hi ozusenet.info, great site , found it invaluable for working out the true power of usenet. I have ditched torrents for good.

Mate, if you're getting the Select fta tuning channel and you can see the channel ID's when you change channel, it can really only be the card. I know you said the card is the right way up, but I have to ask, that's with the card contacts UP right?

    Default Up is often down.

    That's not necessarily correct.

With some card readers, (Strong and I think Humax), The card contacts need to be down, but if using a CAM with face side up, need to have card contacts up. Confusing I know, but even the best of us get caught at times.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

B4L - he said in an earlier post he was using a Humax. Humax's have the contacts up whether you're using the CA slot or a CAM.
