Hub Rings or Hub Centric Rings

ive even heard them called spigot rings.



ive got a car with a hub flange size of 60.1mm i just purchased a 2nd hand set of 17,s with a centerbore of 70mm a 9.9mm difference.

now ive heard conflicting stories as to whether these rings are needed or not, in my opinion i say yes to take the weight of the car off the wheel studs.

whats your opinions yes needed or no not.

also where could one buy these as my local tyre shops have little if anything to offer in the way of info i could get more info from a brick!! they say they come with the new wheels ordered if needed and ebay has turned up zero as they are all set sizes.

My thoughts?

I cannot stress enough the importance in high stress situations such as off road 4wd and racing.

All load should be transmitted through the hubs not the wheel nuts and studs.

Post 5 here is a pic and my view on the matter.


I have never used spacers, i prefer to order rims to size for full strength.

we agree on the stress thru to hub theory, that video proves it.

i wonder how many people are out there are not knowing there wheels could pop off the next time the hit the anchors or veer sharply. over the years ive purchased many a 2nd hand set of rims and as long as the stud pattern was ok on they went, i never even looked at the hub.

i think id rather have them than not tho so i think ill pay the $100 being asked of me for custom made jobs.

its my neck after all.

I would have to agree its better to be safe then sorry, you would have better load sharing over the whole hub instead off just the studs.

Actually the more i look at that vid, the more i think the bloke used light and soft alloy wheel nuts. LOL
