I don't want to be a wet blanket guys, but as someone who's had Boys In Blue knock on his door at 7am for a spot inspection, I'd like to offer the following reminder: do not use cards for illegal activities. You need to hang around with better educated friends then
- Gamma cards running Irdeto/NDS emulators are of GREAT interest to pay tv companies (they are a much bigger threat than card sharing)
- Several Austech members are KNOWN to be informants for those companies
- Several Austech members are KNOWN to be federal police
- Everything you post on Austech from your home PC is traceable back to your physical home address
- Austech posts are used by Pay TV companies in complaints to police
- When complaints are made the police HAVE to investigate
- Police and courts are not technical; they BELIEVE and ACT ON whatever the Pay TV companies tell them. It doesn't take much to convince the courts to issue a search warrant.
- If Pay TV companies think you may be dealing in gammas or possess information that'll help them track down gamma distributors, they WILL fly their staff across the country to direct a police search on you, to participate in formal questioning, to tell the police what to believe and help them build a case against you.
- Defending yourself against false accusations costs THOUSANDS of dollars.
So if you choose to embark in activities the police might deem to be fraud or copyright infringement, do yourself a big favour and DO NOT discuss your "successes" in public. Not only is it against forum rules, it's also VERY DANGEROUS to your privacy and financial interest.
And if, god forbid, you have the misfortune of being "audited" by a pay tv company
- The police are NOT interested in hearing your side of the story. Their job is not to assess claims of innocence but to pursue accusations. Pay TV companies are experienced at giving police what they need.
- If you're ever questioned by police do not say a DAMN THING except through a solicitor, ESPECIALLY if you're innocent, because the only reason they're questioning you is to try and get you to incriminate yourself. It sounds cynical to say that but it's true, as solicitors will attest.
- If you try to defend yourself you will almost certainly lose. The law is not based on commonsense but on esoteric precedents and procedural conventions. Like any game, if you try to play without knowing the rules you LOSE.
- Make yourself a cuppa and watch . Because we don't have a bill of rights the legal situation is slightly different, but the clip's representation of police strategy is spot on.
PS. PM's between members are slightly safer, but only slightly. No offence intended to site administrators, but my advice to everyone is to always assume everything you type online may become public knowledge.

It's all about the profit for this forum mate thats how it works around here. I was having this convo with a couple of guys the other day about the way this forum works,
You better not have any pirate DVD's, or be growing dope in the back yard...
Because they don't give a shit on what they get you for once they get in the door.
Just one pirate DVD and that's a court case.
Some people may be surprised to hear that....
They also confiscate all your computer gear for months which can be a real pain in the arse....so I've heard...\
@tarwin-you'd have to be pretty good at about 10kilometres...it will still have a few degrees of beam ....
(with a 2 watt amp 50 k's no problem with 24 db of antenna gain... )
personally I think Next-g/3-g is best for anonymity of location...
use a good proxy if you are posting and make sure you change your proxy on a daily basis.
One last thing make a magnet out of your mircrowave and a trip switch so when they take your computer etc it will be fooked.......................
I think most people whom are worried, use removable HDD these days
Nothing EVER stays on their machines
Man it's hot outside, just finished the roof and now just need to do the walls but i ran out of tin foil
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Man sold illegal pay TV decoders
From
A MELBOURNE man who sold decoder cards that gave users free access to pay television programming has been fined $7000.
Rodney Paul Doove, 43, of Mount Waverley, yesterday pleaded guilty in the Melbourne Magistrates Court to six counts of selling unauthorised decoders.
Prosecutor Liz Tickey said the scam was discovered when a Foxtel fraud investigator received an anonymous tip.
"In July 2007 (a) Foxtel fraud investigator received information… that unauthorised decoders, known as gamma cards, were available for sale at $400 each," she said.
The court heard that between July and August 2007 the investigator bought 25 gamma cards for a total of $8550.
The first payment was made directly into Doove's bank account, and subsequent payments went to the account of co-offender Simon Parker's defacto partner.
In September 2007 the Australian Federal Police began investigating and between October 2007 and January 2008 officers purchased a further 12 cards from Doove.
Geoff Tobin, for Doove, said his client was self-employed and had learnt how to pirate the cards from friends on the internet. He said Doove had originally made the cards free for friends and family.
He asked Magistrate Jonathon Kledstat not to impose a jail term.
Mr Kledstat said there was no way of knowing how much revenue Doove had cost Foxtel.
"A person who either invests their own time, talent or money to invent, market or provide a service for which they are entitled to payment is entitled to have their investment protected," he said.
He said Doove was an opportunistic criminal who had no problem engaging in illegal activity if it was personally beneficial.
He convicted Doove and fined him $7000.
Still not a bad lark. He sold 25 cards at about $350 each ($8550). Then sold another 12 to the feds (about $4100?). Thats over $12500 just in the sales that got him busted, and he was only fined $7000..... How many others would he have sold to have been doing volumes like that for the cards that got him busted?
