I would suggest that is because it never is expected for that file to appear
back on a PC, and Mapsource never expects to see that img file again once it is sent to the GPS, and
doesn't have to conform to any convention that the source maps do.

i have loaded it on my nuvi with mapsource and it works just can't use the routing. Also if you creat it with mapsource then once it's copied to the nuvi i renamed the oztopo image to the same name as mapsource created and overwrite the file you get the contour lines aswell.

I'm 99% sure this one doesn't work that way because it is precompiled by
Mapsource ready to load to a GPS, contains two map products with data for multiple areas which overlap, etc.

So does anyone have the Garmin TOPO maps that can be opened in mapsource software
I see lots of Torrents and downloads with NSW but none for QLD

I don't think the original links are Garmin maps. They're showing up as Tracks4Australia PRO v1.2:

City Navigator 2009 isn't in the product list.... You sure you're not just seeing Tracks for Australia and contours?
If you turn off Tracks for Aus, I think you'll only see the contours.

Nah, CN2k9, T4A and 20m contours are all there. I just selected the product detail for T4A to show it's not an official Garmin product as I thought they were by the thread title. T4A doesn't have that level of street detail.

I just tried again, named the topo img file GMAPSUPP2.img, and only CN2009 is showing.
How do you get to that screen in the first picture?

Tools - Manage My Data - Map Sets - Mapsource

I've got my maps named:

CN2009NT = gmapsupp.img
T4A = gmapsup2.img

I think your prob may be the extra "P" in your map name.

That's ok for MobilePC, still doesn't work in the GPS unit unfortunately.

Hi downloaded the gmapsupp.img
but still cant see it in Mapsource
have tracks4Australia and
city navigator 2008
but cant see the new maps does it over write to an existing file
can anyone goive me a blow by blow list to get this to work
all help greatly appreciated

Yeah, I figured it out and posted a guide here:

but don't waste your time, I doubt this is any real Oztopo product,
it's probably a free topo mapset called Contours Australia.

The real Oztopo (10 Meter contours) is available on Pirate Bay now anyway.
You probably just unlock it with the Jetmouse keygen.

I wander if anyone has a software to navigate using above maps (laptop). I used to use C-MAP 93 for that but it is rather old now and I'don't belive it will take above maps. So if anyone knows/has any software for navigation please let me know.

Are these 3 files 3 seperate maps or the same oztopo map with different contours , roads etc... ( different details ) .... do I need to copy all three files to my garmin folder ???

sorry for this dumb question but I have searched the forums and cannot find the answer

They are split archives, you need all 3 files.

There's a newer version posted .. search and you'll find it.

1. run Mapsource on another PC and go thru the entire process with only garmin xt pda

2. Load the img files directly into my PDA garmin folder ...
