    Default Pli z80's images

I have loaded this image thanks to z80. As i wish to try test my rs232 port. When I loaded this image I have found that there are no settings pre-loaded on the box, such as channels. It comes loaded with ccam2.04 but the config file seems as its just standard. Used dreamup to flash. Am I doing something wrong? Thankx

if you already have done the dreamup now load this one via flashwizard

when doing one of the dream up versions you must first flash erase a couple of times before loading the file.

once again this image was created by the meshia

    No problem Sanity,

Thanks fandtm666, I have loaded that image up ok now. I take it the card reader should start working with that image. Seems I also have a faulty rs232 port also. Tried several cards and I only get a flash on the green light on my reader when I insert the card. I have the usb powered reader, works fine with laptop and greywolf

those images won't help you in diagnosing a usb card reader issue.

Would ppl agree that my rs232 port is faulty? I have loaded the images above. Starts up playing nitv channel. I have a usb powered/ rs232 connection card reader. I get no activity green light flashing while having a foxtel channel selected, no matter what card I have inserted.

Reason is I would like this port to work as maybe one day newcs will update the whitey and no need for laptop. But in turn I do not want to borther the seller from this forum if I do not have to.

I am not convinced it is faulty till i see a jaycar mk2 fail on it.

usb power is not an option, a dm500 can barely run on the power supply that it comes with.

I have the usb power connected to a usb hub that is running of the mains. Only thing that is connected to the dreambox from reader is the RS232 cable

The only USB powered card reader I have ever seen work in the manner you describe is the Infinity USB card reader but only after it has been hit with the driver from the PC / *nix box and told to be in phoenix mode at whatever speed (not standalone powered).

None of the others I have tried work as they are looking to be told what they are via the USB port.

Do as Z80 has suggested and check a normal serial only phoenix reader with your box (as if your dreamUP tool still works it is most likely your serial port is working)

It is only USB POWERED. Thats it. Has nothing else to do with usb, has jumpers on it to set the modes and speeds. Has a RS232 that it comnicates with other RS232 devices. I can not read any cards with the USB plug, only the RS232 port.

I use it with greywolf, I have programmed a few gammas and gold cards with it. I will see if I have another reader lying around. Thanks everyone for your help, its just really frustrating me at the moment.

Is it possible to use the bf430/greywolf to test the dreambox rs232 port?

I now have connected my Cas3+ up to my laptop and put it in phoenix 6MHz mode and connected the RS232 port to my dreambox. But still my whitey will not work. I think now it is time to ask for an exchange.

Please can someone tell me if this setup would work? I would even be greatful for a simple yes or no.

    Dreambox(rs232) - bf430 - intranet - laptop - greywolf rs1 - cardreader - whitey

I firgured I would get at least somesort of a response. But all I get is dtr low when the bf430 is connected.

    Thanks in advance.

When you boot your dreambox the reset light on the phoenix should light up for a second, if it doesn't then your RS232 on the dreambox is faulty. I know 1 guy who imported 50 clones and they all had faulty rs232 ports. you could flash them but not use a phoenix on them
