Default Sony Camcorders and Zoom 15X Vs 40X

    Hi everyone,

I've never owned a camcorder before but have the opportunity to pick up a Sony HDRSR10 HDD Handycam. Now I see it's HD but I noticed the Zoom is only 15X. Now is this enough?? I see most in the Sony range are 40X but I remember trying to hold a camcorder still years ago and it was hard at full zoom. Would I use the full 40X full zoom if I had that feature or is 15X enough?

Tossing up between these 2 (yeh yeh I know I'm not comparing apples with apples)

    Cheers,
    Leroy

You have optical zoom and digital zoom Leroy.
    15x would probably be enough.
My JVC Everio does up to 40x but like you said, trying to hold it steady is impossible. You really want to use a tripod doing that.

I'm getting the same feeling that it should be enough. I'm just trying to convince myself

    Thanks,
