Default Architect software - Design pergola

Looking for some software to draw a Pergola plan I want to build. Something that will give me a BoM for all the wood I need etc. Any recommendations on what software to use. I would rather something dedicated to building and not just a generic CAD package.

Something with a 3D render and structural loading / weight calculations would be nice too..

I think?? I used 3d architect, did all of what you asked and you can do the 3d walkthrough.

For something like this I would draw it by hand.
I just did some for my octagonal deck that I'm still building and when you draw to scale it's not that hard to measure what you need.
I figure by the time you learn how to use a program you would have drawn it.
But then maybe I'm just too old and stuck in my ways to adapt to modern day technology.

3d home architect looks good and I can get it from Demonoid.

I prefer drawing with cad since I can make changes as I need with ease. The time I invest to learn a new program usually pays for it self at some later date.

I have a decent background in other 2D CAD software so the learning curve is not steep.

    I agree with weido,
Measure by hand, draw by hand and cut by hand, but double check before cutting every time.

I got 3d home architect and found it is to simple for my needs. If I want to draw up a house the way I want it to look it is fine but it is not capable to generate plans to build off. It also feels like a "toy" and it so simplistic it is difficult for me to get my head around the simple way to do things.

Autodesk Autocad Architectural (formerly AutoCAD Architecture Desktop) looks a lot more promising. I will get hold of it and see how it goes.

You will probably spend the next 6 months trying to work Autocad, it is extremely the opposite (very good, but complex.)

I have a program which will design it in steel. But obviously it's engineered for the products that I use. But if you're keen, send me a pm with the size/wind speed/ etc and I'll draw it up and send you a list of the parts - you might be able to adapt it for timber ??
Oh, send me an email address so I can send you back the printouts.

    Cheers.
When I was a kid, I used to have an imaginary friend. I thought he went everywhere with me. I could talk to him and he could hear me, and he could grant me wishes and stuff too. But then I grew up, and stopped going to church.

I will be right. Not the first time I have been using cad.

It doesn't have a name. I t was written specifically for the company I work for. It's not available for sale at all.
