Thanks,
I'm waiting for delivery of an UNlocked Huawei E169G.
HSDPA Maximum download speed 7.2Mbps and
HSUPA Maximum upload speed 2Mbps
I've read that you need to put the APN's in for the local providers.
Some have a code for Pre-Paid and a different code for Post Paid(12/24 month contract)
Thanks guys for your code details, codes will come in handy.
cheers

Hi best4less, are you having any problems with 3, or is it that cheaper/better pre-paid or plans on other providers are available?
I'm thinking of going pre-paid with 3.
My daughter bought an E160 dongle from 3 for $129.00 (no contract)
Also purchased 12 Gig from 3 pre-paid, Alicia uses about 700/800 MB per month and the 12 Gig purchase lasts for 12 months.
First year outlay $278 for modem/dongle and 12 months internet.
Second year will be even cheaper as she has dongle and will only need to purchase download Gigs which will become cheaper as the competition picks up.
Any tips here best4less
cheers

Be honest mate it seems to work a treat except a few times a week they do there upgrades for a couple of hours and also i have finally got VOIP working with it also
So all in all i am happy and it's pre paid
The only draw back is they don't shape you they just cut you off so a trip to the local servo at 2:00 in the morning is nothing unusual LOL

Thanks best4less,
We didn't know about the "they just cut you off" and
thanks for the VOIP update, knew it was possible, but had not been able to find anyone who has any experience with VOIP on wireless HSPA.
Much appreciated by both myself and my daughter Alicia.
Thanks for the feedback b4l
Thanks Adobe for starting this thread, I'm sure wireless HSDPA and HSUPA will be talked about more and more as time progresses.
Cheers

Hi Adobe,
LOL
Saw Dc unlocker demonstrated on Utube or similar and it's so simple.
It's the way to go, if you don;t have the "cracking dongle"
PS I hope I know what your talking about.

Exetel APN= exetel1
Uses the Optus HSPDA network. Ultra low cost plans.

(oh, it has to go thru various departments. Been a week)
Hi,
Another APN
APN for NextG prepaid = telstra.internet
Just gave Vodafone Mobile Broadband the flick today .. mid contract ... as they have failed to provide 3G in my area as promised by Dec. 08 (Strangely they were more than happy to terminate the contract without penalty and let me keep the modem). I have a HUAWEI E220 HSDPA USB modem (Vodafone have phased them out in favour of the smaller USB dongle) which I believe isn't locked to Vodafone. I want to get a casual plan or prepaid now for travelling and the like only (Can't always find a handy McDonalds) and wonder who is using what provider and what you think is the best way to go. Would appreciate your tips.
Does anyone have connection software for E220, have bought a Virgin starter pack because its the cheapest way to go for a once a month usage. Thedealer says my E220 should install it's own connetction software but it doesn't.
Huawei site hasn't been helpful either. The E220 is unlocked (never was locked) tested ok on the Optus network by dealer but I just can't talk to it.
Any thoughts .... would really appreciate some pointers.
Edit: Virgin support insist the software is on the sim and will autoload when the modem is detected or can be read from the sim manually as a removable drive through "My Computer" but that isn't the case with this modem. I will have get some sort of generic connection software I guess but so far it has eluded my searchs
