The dish will work but needs to be realigned for a different satellite. Use info from Lyngsat and a satellite finder to do this.
Yes you need your own stb, but forget the pirate 'sellers card' - get a paid subscription.
Have fun.
I have recently purchased a house which has a satelite dish for foxtel. My question is can I use this dish to recieve Select Tv or my preference is to use it to receive Austar. From what I can understand I can use a seller card to do this and purchase my own set top box. I have an old foxtel DSD720 can I use this at all?
I have done some reading with regards to this but must admit that I am a little confused. ANy help would be appreciated.

Yup. But don't move the dish until you see C1 pictures, then re-point it to IS8 and your in business.
Yup. If you can find a seller card and your conscience is at ease, this is a 'solution' with your own STB.
The DSD should do Irdeto 2 OK. But they're horrid boxes.
