    Default Fone Zone Figtree

    Fone Zone Telstra.

Went to the Figtree Westfield Store today.

Said to the salesman, " do you have a HSPA Router.?

At that point "all hell broke lose",

"All telstra is HSDPA" said the Telstra Fone Zone sales person.

"There is no such thing" said the Telstra Fone Zone Agent.

    AND

    THEN

He then began to lecture me (in front of Telstra Fone Zone Staff and Customers) about HSPA and the fact that there was NO SUCH THING AS A HSPA ROUTER.

I bit my tongue, and backed out of the shop(only cause my daughter was with me)

Had my daughter not been there I would have " Self Destructed"

Telstra Fone Zone Figtree, I'm going back there on Thursday 19/02/1009.

God help the manager if he is condescending on me again.

PS My daughter Alicia will not be there tomorrow.

    Hi best4less,

Yes, they have just become available.

You plug the 3 (or any other HSDA) dongle into these very small routers and then you can then dish it out to other PC's in the reception area.

Thanks best4less for your quick reply.

    Cheers

The salesman at the telstra Fone Zone in Figtree basically made me feel like a fool.

    I went home scathing.

I didn't even have the comeback to say to him that they have them at 3 for $169.00. I was stunned, and that's not like me.

    Hey,

    Thanks for
the up date in th PM.

NO, it's a wireless router that you plug the(HSPA) dongle into and then the router distributes the (HSPA)internet to other PC's.

It's really new stuff, not many people even know this router exists.

    Thanks

I was going to suggest try the new Billions.

What sort of firmware issues on the Billion? I have an old one and they used to ship with 'cheap/nasty' probably unregulated 'wall warts/AC adapters' that would give all sorts of random behaviour. I heard if you plug in a regulated power supply you get pretty reliable operation. Mine used to lose some functionality every 2 weeks at least, until a warm boot. I moved to a different power zone and only had 1 glitch in 2 years.

EDIT: this guy is Telstra you say? Telstra being the company that sells ADSL, broadband for one PC in your home at one price, then markets 'wireless' internet for your whole home for multiple PCs for a higher price? What a joke! (Correct me if I'm wrong here I'm going off word of mouth...)

    Hi,

best4less, the one I'm talking about is the 3 mentioned in your above links.

How bad was the latency issues?

They are $169 at local 3 shop, salesperson said they could be discounted depending on what else I purchased at time of sale.

    Thanks

Ok maybe I shouldn't have used the word " latency " as in all the tests i did everything worked except for one program that glitched every 10seconds or so,Even when i did run the speedtest.net test it was still looking not bad at all but when i changed routers there was no more glitching

This is what Three 3G key and a Billion router does now. Not to shabby i think
