7 Pounds + some more

Might be bit of a chick flick, but I was really impressed with this film.

I think Will Smith is an excellent actor, extremely versatile and this is yet another great performance.

Granted the beginning is kind of slow setting up the twist etc etc. I would not go so far as to say this film is a feel good movie, in truth I felt it was extremely sad, (yep almost shed a tear) but as the twist becomes obvious it should leave you with a slightly warm feeling (in humanity)...

speaking of the twist, I did not pick it, I could sense it was about to happen, and then It happens very quickly..

Definitely worth a watch


Another one that I was keen to see is Taken with Liam Neeson..

I saw an interview with him about the film and it took my fancy...
Not a huge Liam Fan, but was pleasantly surprised with him. I have to admit I really don't see him as a tough guy kinda character (not sure why... Just don't).

Initially I went this is going to be cr4p, and almost did not go on with it, as there seemed to be a few silly things at the start, Point in case - 1) where the character has to tell another character his background so you (me) the viewer gets and understanding about how deadly a man he is.. yes yes.. plot development etc etc, and every film has them, but this seemed to me to be done without ANY form of subtiety (Macquarie Dictionary spelling??).

Another was where Holly Vallance's character is rescued by Liam's Character. Now perhaps I looked away for a few seconds but, it seemed that it just came out of the blue, for no other reason than she portrays a singer, to make matters worst the over reaction and distress she shows is so over the top it had me in full blown laughter (yes yes plot development and the hook for later in the film).

having said that, I did get into it, I enjoyed the action and story, had a few plot twists (rather character twists) which I enjoyed too..

Another worthy of a watch...

Those to Avoid no matter what hype they are given ...

Max Payne - the amount of things I could say about this film.. again proof that no movie should come from a game, I can think of only one that was bearable the rest just plain sucked... doom, AVP list goes on

I didn't get around to seeing 7lbs but I'll take a stab at what it's about: [SPOILERS] Will Smith is suffering some personal problems and plans to commit suicide but he wants his organs to go to worthy recipients of his choosing. Unfortunately he accidentally falls in love with one of them (Rosario Dawson) which gives him a new zest for life. But Dawson is terminally ill so the only way he can save her is to continue with his plan. The story can end in one of 2 predictable ways: either he dies a saint or by some convenient stroke of luck another suitable donor dies and he and Dawson live happily ever after. Given that the story looks like a weepie I'm betting on the first option.[/SPOILER]

Is a chick flick.
If you need to take a chick out atm, take her to this, you won't suffer like with some of the others, unless the chick is ugly of course( but then its dark at the movies)

I enjoyed it also.......even with the what not to do "message"
