What does "wipe out" the router mean?

With XP SP3 set to Auto obtain IP does anything get set on the PC... ie in the cmd window type in ipconfig. if all 0.0.0.0 type in ipconfig/renew you may need to put in the name of the ethernet adapter. You could also do an ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew.

Doesn't the Billion auto assign 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200?

Have you been to the Billion website support or download area... you may need to up date the modem.

    Hey Phil,
I rememer seeing something written about this elsewhere, but for the life of cannot remeber where!
From what I recall its nothing to do its nothing to do with your sp3 disks, more to do with billion, sp3 and DHCP
I think I read that billion have a patch for it!

I will keep looking and if i find anything will post it up!

    cheers

    Cozi

cozi is right... SP3 is using a DHCP flag (43) that causes the Billion router to crash, this flag is within the DHCP "standard", just never used by Windows before, Billion have firmware patches to fix it.

Phil I know you've solved it but I'm curious which model Billion? Is it the 5200?
