there is a wii disc cleaner at jbhifi for $8
try that first,
is it modded?
Hey guys,
This is a question from a member of another forum that was posted. Can anyone help?
----
Well I have had my Wii now for 4 days which I brought off ebay and it has decided that it will no longer read any of my game discs. I am sooooo not happy, I am going to buy a disc cleaner today and see if that helps otherwise there goes my money down the drain.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
I brought it from an ebay store, I have sent him a message but he hasn't replied and probably wont because i have already left positive feedback.
I have read that dust can build up on the lens and this could be the problem as there is still quite a bit of plaster dust floating around my house. I might see if I can get a lens cleaner as well!
there is no clunking noise, it just can't read so that sounds like it might not be so bad. I will get a cleaner and see what happens.

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for posting this for me matt!
No the wii is not modded, it was working fine then i switched it off to go shopping and when i returned prob an hour at the most it kept saying unable to read disc.
I brought a wii lens cleaner from eb games today but has not helped the situation.
Sounds like a faulty laser to me. Almost impossible to tell without seeing the unit, as it could even be the control board.
Also should add that I have seen a number of units which after transport, the ribbon cable has popped out and then the unit wont read disks. So could even be something as simple as that.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?
