Thumbs down Telstra lawyers give iiNet advice.

    Is Telstra running this country?

Telstra's legal team is giving expert advice to iiNet in its copyright lawsuit from AFACT.
AFACT alleges that iiNet failed to stop its customers from illegally downloading movies and TV programmes.
iiNet refutes all the claims, but the case has huge implications for all ISPs in Australia.
It could set a precedent that forces ISPs to take on a role that they argue belongs to the police and the legal system.
Meanwhile, iiNet reported strong first half results yesterday.
Profits were up fifty per cent on subscriber growth.

I think you might be looking at it from the wrong angle. I dont think Telstra are running this country, or even trying to get in on the other ISPs. I think Telstra probably knows that they would be on AFACT's target list in the future if they win the iinet court case. THUS, Telstra will provide all the help they can to get iinet the win and thus the precedent in their favour, so that when AFACT come calling on Telstra they can just use the iinet court case to get it thrown out.

Personally I'm suprised more ISPs arent helping iinet fight their case.

I think its just helping because its the largest ISP in Australia and if IInet loose would have major $$$$$ ramifications for telstra as well as every other isp in the world

Just found a better source, and the iinet ceo pretty well says what I thought in it.

That certainly confirms my first impressions.
Telstra has never done anything out of the goodness of their heart.
A pound of flesh and all the blood they can leach!

If AFACT lose, you can bet your sweet arse they'll find another way of getting the little fellow. He is more vulnerable and Telstra won't help him.

So there no pirates using the telstra network.??? Or is that AFUCT ( sorry my mistake) don't have the balls to go Telstra in the first place.
It's not going to change anything anyway. Nobody cares about copyright law. Most media devices allow you to copy what you want when you want. I don't see them stopping that. As soon as you copy off the telly your breaching the law. Remember the days of taping off the radio? Well it's the same thing. They are wasting there time..The fight is already over. Music artists will just have to start touring again to make a living instead of doing a handfull of shows in a country and then expecting overprice CD sales to pay there way in life.

it's usually people with no effing idea about the internet who choose and use telstra. They don't use telstra for torrents, they don't know a torrent from a tornado. Nor do they know a megabyte from a meaty byte!
They choose telstra because they think telstra invented the internet.

Pirates would be using plans like TeePee's ADSL 2+ 200GB for $79.99. HELLSTRA is offering ADSL 2+ 60GB for.... wait for it...$149.95
