not sure about that but if i need a cover i just go here
CD DVD
G'day guys/gals.
Just trying to sort my cover art into cover.jpg in the folders of the albums they contain. However some are appearing with thumbnails as if the picture is there, but I can't find the picture.
They're not in the ID3 tags either as I've used a tool to strip all the ID3 cover tags to cover.jpg.
Yet still there's no picture to be found, other than the thumbnail view of the folder.
Any idea where else the pictures may be stored so I can rip them to actual files in the folder?

hmm might be in thumbs.db file (hidden)
Try deleteting that file and see if the icon resets?
No thumbs.db in that folder... unless vista stores them differently?
In Vista I think the thumbnail cache is here:
Directory of C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
You can clear the cache by running the disk cleanup tool and checking thumbnails.
But isn't this the opposite of what you want, ie you want to find where the cover images are? I guess if you clear the cache and allow Vista to rebuild the cache you will know if the cover files are still in the ID3 tags or lost.
Mm well i know they're not in the tags, and I know they're not in cover.jpg... thus I want to delete them from wherever the hell they are... and convert them to the above.
Firstly, the jpg you have listed in this thread can only be seen by moderators as us "commoners" can only upload to imageshack.
There are two ways to get album art into [I assume] mp3s.
You can have the jpg as a hidden file in the album folder or you can insert the jpg into the mp3 individually and it will not be able to be found easily. Use media monkey to be able to sort, change etc. these imbedded jpgs
Ahh my bad, I'll try that out mandc cheers.
So far I've stripped all ID3 tags, and deleted all the jpgs, and run disk cleanup.
Yet the thumbs still appear.
