Assuming you are looking at Optus sats, either will do as long as they are 10700, you won't have a problem.

If you are going to use it on Intel 8 go the sharp for sure.

Yes unless ya are in NZ and wanting a couple of pay channels ya only need a single LNB as all the rest is horizontal.

Hey Leyroy, I noticed when trying multiple 10600's on intel 8 I would never get all the services. A mate who installs Select and Mysat in the Western subs confirmed that with me. He gave me a bunch of Sharp Quads, Duals and singles now all it good. Maybe its the lo 10600 thing rather than brand.

    Hi all,

Just out of curiosity, I am planning to buy a Ku band FTA package with a Universal LNB. Will it have any limitations in receiving feeds from certain satellites etc.? Hope this won't be a question too dumb for a newbie

    G'Day Cobber,
The Universal would be OK, but I would pay more attention to the STB
, and specifically make sure that it is capable of Blind Scan (Power Scan) if you are chasing feeds. Without that it would be next to useless.

I found my 10700 sharp a little more sensitive than a universal i have when chasing feeds on D2. It will work though.

Thanks B4L and Leroy! My STB would be a Strong SRT4663x. Hopefully it will work well with a Universal LNB

    G'Day Cobber,
    The "
SRT 4663X CONAX" may be a nice box and an attractive price, but I see nothing about blind scan in the specifications and I certainly would not recommend it if your main interest is chasing feeds.
Perhaps you do not understand what is involved in doing that.

Thanks so much for that clarification B4L! Chasing feeds is exactly what I want to do and I was under the impression that SRT4663x will support all that.

Can you please help me choose an alternative from the STRONG lineup and hopefully within the same price range?

I saw SRT4664x with Blind Scan feature. Is it a good buy or can you please suggest another model?

    Thanks again!

I see the 4663X going one store for $155.
Sattronics, one of our sponsors has the 4658X for $130. The 4653X would be slightly cheaper, but only has a single card slot. I consider the 4658X with a card and CAM slot would be the best choice for you. There are many others with the same specs, but Strong is well supported and well priced. You'll find their banner ad at the top of the page.

The new Strong 466x series have pvr funtionality and otherwise appear to be similar to the 465x series.

Except they do not have blind scan, which is what he needs.

I would confirm with Strong that it definitely hasn't got blind scan. Seems odd that all the others appear to have it.

Sorry to differ Leroy, but it seems strange that if it does have Blind Scan, why don't they list it in the specifications. I wouldn't trust word of mouth. Would you?

Did you miss the part about where I said confirm with Strong? No word of mouth there. Just seems odd they wouldn't include the feature as it was in the 4653x and is in all the other 466x models.

    Hello Leroy and B4L,

I just called Strong and they confirmed that all their boxes support blind scan. They said it might be an oversight that it is missing in website specs.

Given the fact, what would you prefer between 4663x and 4658x? If you can briefly explain what advantages one has over the other, that would be really helpful.

    Thanks!
