Just out of curiosity, it would be interesting to know how much some of you guys actually charge for the followings, and how much you are willing to go down to.

    Reformatting and installing of OS.
    Fault diagnosis.
    Data Backup.
    Software installation.
    Internet setup at home.
    Virus scan and removal.
and what ever else you would like to add.

I worked in a private school, so all that AND SO MUCH more was covered in my salary.... even did big dollar repairs on boards/adapters/screens and charged only $25 which went to the end of year christmas party. are you thinking of setting up a bussiness or just comparing prices.

I think a flat rate per hour is the norm. although I am not sure anymore

I am just comparing prices, to see how every technician look at it in his own way, I just want to get an idea and see if I am ripping anyone off, LOL or are my prices fair compared to others.
Keep it coming guys, but I am definitely not doing it for a case of beer.

Looks pretty reasonable across the board there Aboulaly.

As you say, the more tasks the progressively cheaper each addon job gets.

Best4less would be able to give some ideas here,

    cheers

Mate I have tried AVG, it gave me problems on some pcs, I find the new 2009 norton to be heaps better than older versions, plus that's what most of the customers request anyway.

ok, u guys have reformatted and install anti-virus on the customer computer.
4 days later they came back with all these pop-up (most likely they have been on those prawn sites...lol)
and they come in and say " what's going on , you didn't do your job properly "
how do you response to that?
will you charge them money ?
or give them a second chance?

Yeah have to agree there, I install Kaspersky after every reinstall (usually remove norton/Mcafee). If I don't the machine will come back with crap all over it.

Data Backup/Format/reinstall, I only charge $150. This saves them doing a round trip of 200kms plus charges.
