Default Windows XP Home - Administrator Lock Out

I have a Acer Laptop, it comes with WinXP Home and Acers other "ePower" crap.

Just did a fresh install of the WinXP Home, got all the updates, SP3 etc.
I was mucking around trying to turn off the log-in window on boot up and now i have somehow Lost/Deleted or just can't get back into Administrator!?!

I have tried all the easy stuff.

Ctrl, Alt, Del at log in window
Safe Mode (changing Admin password etc)
Safe Mode (Restore Point, to earlier date before the problem)

All with ZERO effect on my situation.

At present i'm logged in as "GUEST" and just can't seem to do anything about it?
As there is NO Administrator in ANY drop down window anymore.
Don't want to load WinXP Pro, as i don't have a genuine copy for this machine.

Any ideas on how to get back into Administrator please?
    It's doing my head in.

I have googled it 30+ times now, all with different answers or bogus links to software pay sites.
Even if there is a Reg Edit that can be done???

    Thanks

After XP installation you MUST create an administrator user and use it for your normal day-to-day operations. The Administrator account will appear only in safe mode.
If you didn't create the administrator user you should do a system restore to the point where your installation was still using the Administrator account and create another user then.
There could be some other registry tweaks available, not sure about them as I always had a rule of not logging in with another account unless I have the above prepared.

Tried the restore point idea fromaron, it didn't work!

Yes it went back to the date, but the log-in stayed the same

Hey lovey, i was waiting for your input
Yeah... something is wrong though fandt.
And you are right, i am getting very close to putting WinXP Pro on.

Laptop is an Acer Aspire 3692WLMi
    Intel Celeron M processor 420
    1.6Ghz, 533Mhz FSB, 1MB L2 cache

I tell you mate, this thing has worked perfectly for the passed 4 or 5 years, opted for the Acer ePower system restore, and thats when all the trouble began!

None of the above has worked..... Sadly.

There must be a simple fix for this?

    oceanboy, did you try this:
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserLis t in the Registry Editor.
Double-click the Administrator key in the right pane.
If the Administrator key doesn’t exist, right-click on the above tree in the pane, choose New, DWORD Value, name it Administrator and press .
Type 1 in the “Value data” box, and press .

Now there might be the problem... There was NO ADMINISTRATOR in the right pane!!!!

And when i try to follow your steps to ADD Admistrator, it says "Cannot Create Value: Error writing to the registry", right after I go
    Userlist/new/DWORD value

    Am i doing it right?

Well i tried that app all over the place, it just doesn't do anything???
Launched it on Desktop, In Windows Folder in I386 Folder.... NOTHING.

All it says each and every time is this: "Default Gina in use. DLL in use: MSGINA.DLL (standard)"

The repair button is ALWAYS not highlighted, thus you can never press it.

    1. Didn't work
    2. The second just killed my machine, lost all stuff and rooted registry.
