tapes to cd

Was after some suggestions on converting some old tapes to cd , I am having trouble with the usual hissing sounds in the background and was wondering what program would be good to use to rectify.

cool edit pro has noise filters and its fairly easy to use.

but if you want bang for your buck try to "find" adobe audition instead.

adobe purchased cool edit years ago and revamped the program with a lot more filters/passes/levels etc.

both are easily found in the usual hangouts , torrents and warez.

I use a deck with Dolby B & C/MPX, just offhand I forget which one gives me the best result, but if your tape player has Dolby, experiment with it.

I rarely get tape hiss.

Well Ive tried Adobe Audition 3 and I must say what a great little proggy , the Hiss reduction works a treat , cant wait to check the crack remover , maybe the bloke down the road could use it , he just road passed my place on his bike with his crack showing , my girlfriend almost had a heart attack.
