Did you use the pin header for the chip, if so what happens if you take the chip out and put the original hdd back in effectively making the box stock again?
Hi All
I need some help.
Situation is i just installed an Alladin Live chip in a V1.3W and all went well. I went into the settings and locked the hard disc after setting up the UnleashX dash. Well this is when all my problems started, it is coming up with a Error 06 (HDD Error).
I have tried to start up with my Unleash X dash start up disc but the drive isn't reading it. I tried all my start up discs but the drive isn't reading it - the thing is i know this drive is reading boot discs as it read them before.
What the heck is going on with this box? I thought of disconnecting the 250gb disc and re-installing the orig drive but it still comes up with an error.
Any help is appreciated and really needed.

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Hi
I've used the pin header for the chip but it's wired for a quick push on the start button to be used as an original xbox.
I put the original HDD back in and it stills comes up with the error.
I locked the HDD as i've done this for all the Alladin Lives i've installed without any problems.
I notice when i've started the xbox the green light on the Alladin Live is coming on constant.
I have not tried to unlock the HDD as i can't get that far.
Don't know what to try next!!!!
Thanks for the help.
my question was why do you lock the drives dude? Theres no need to as it creates crap like this!
Connect BT point to pin 2 to enable always on so it boots to the chip all the time.
When you say green light on chip, I've NEVER seen a working LED on a aladdin modchip. What version chip is it? To me it sounds like the chip is either not installed correctly or the bios is corrupt.
At some stage there has been an attempt to unlock the HDD as error 6 pertains to a failed unlock OR perhaps that when it tried to unlock it boots to this error.
Have you tried booting with installer disk in drive?
Hi
I locked the HDD beeeecause i'm stupid - i'll never do it again.
Everything was going along nicely.
Well i have found the original hard drive and now i can boot from the Unleash boot up disc. I still can't unlock the HDD though. I am trying everything and have tried hot swapping the hard drive to the 250 gb i installed but it doesn't recognise it.
I don't want to mess with the orig hdd as i'm going to be stuck if i stuff that one up.
Not sure what i can do from here???
Thanks again for your help Mick.
Are you sure the new hdd isnt stuffed?

OK
I have put a new HDD in it and all is ok.
I think what i have done is transferred files from one xbox (backup etc) and then locked the HDD on the newly modded xbox. I just noticed one bios is 512 on the v1.6 xbox and on the newly modded xbox it's 512.
Tried inserting the stuffed hdd after installing the new hdd when the format screen came up but it didn't like it.
Might have to find some WD HDD tools and try doing something with it. Can anybody suggest anything else?????
PS: Mick there is a green led on the Alladins that i'm using. Must be a new batch or something.
Cheers
Marney
A lot of the Alladin chips had the led put on backwards. LOL. most people didnt bother fixing them as it didnt affect the operation of the chip at all.

I'm not sure as my brother-inlaw got them. Somewhere north of the river i think (perth)
Will try and find out.
Does anyone know how i would either format or unlock my WD250GB paperweight (hard disc)?
yep, there is a service online called HDDUnlock which costs to unlock, but given it is useless atm, definately worth the USD$15 or so to do i.
I've done this for a few customers HDD's that have been locked by the person that modded it for them originally. There is NO need to lock a HDD!
