is there a password setup for the router for any wireless connections ?? if so did you put it in - also is the laptop wireless set to automatically get an ip or is it a fixed ip
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help out please? Friend has had wireless broadband now, using a D-link modem on desktop pc, for quite a while and her sister has come to live with them. She has a laptop so they went and got a Netgear Rangemax wireless usb dongle. Now it all installed and I have got the connection up, it says it has excellent range etc etc but nothing will come up on Internet explorer?? It keeps saying page cannot be displayed. Uninstalled it reinstalled it, same thing, says its all working..blue lights going on dongle etc etc but still no pages will come up. When i use the patch cord into the network card it works fine, but they want wireless not a cord running through the house.
can anyone please help me to help them, it would be really appriciated as the sister is quite sick and the internet will keep her occupied as she is bed bound most of the time.
Thanks heaps
rob

G'day there
try to ping the Router's IP address 192..168.0.1
if get a reply from the router, check the setting on the window wireless connection manager, or use the Netgear Rangemax utility to setup the wireless connection.
good luck.
hi again,
I used the netgear utility to set up the conection and it all says its great, its there, says its got a excellent conection but nothing will come up..its frustrating hey
rob
check that its assign IP for Laptop .. seen the Netgear Utility many times not work with assigning IP .. only fix is re-enable Window Zero Wireless configuration to assign IP and disable the Netgear Utility when its asks on reboot
Trust thyself only, and another shall not betray thee.
