Wind Power
its a long shot but im going to ask here.
Live in port lincoln, very windy here most time.
was looking at getting some wind turbines and sell my power back to the Power company is that possible? What is involved and what sort of things do you need other than the wind turbine, is their a minimum feed back into the grid.

Talk to your power company about what they allow. You will need a grid connect inverter for a start…$$$$
Why not use the contact details at and ask your question?

UFOm8, I have spent a heap of time researching alternative energy and looked into setting up some wind turbines of varying types.
Firstly they aren't cheap, but can be much more efficient than going solar. Disregarding rebates, your bang for buck is best with wind.
However, the setup costs and hurdles can become outragous and expensive.
For instance, erecting the tower(s) / Pole(s) for your turbines can be a pain. It is usually best to put them around 6 metres off the ground, which will require at least a concrete base in the ground, and guy-wires to keep the thing upright.
If you ever have to pull the thing down for maintenance you need to have a way of doing this as well.
Then if your neighbours complain about them (noise, unsightly, etc) then the council gets involved and you may require permits to have these "structures" or you might be told to take 'em down.
You may know all this already, but someone reading this may not so i've written it for their benefit too.
I have looked at buying the little piss-fart units like oatley electronics / jaycar sell, converting Fisher & Paykel washing machine motors, right through to the $5000 and up units that are made for the task. They all require maintenance at some point and possibly will wear out or break at some stage in their lifetime.
If Z80 was here I am sure he'd have a lot to say on the subject, he seemed quite knowledgable in this sort of stuff.
