Unless I'm missing something that unit wont control your C&K system via the keypad bus.
I guess you could use a relay output on it to trigger a key switch input on the C&K to arm and disarm.
The data wire on the C&K is for data.
Hi All,
I have purchased a EG-522RS keypad from Altronics and have read the instructions. They are not the best.
Also, the striker plate relay seems to be missing although all the other components are present. I have looked at the other units at altronics and they are all the same. have I missed something?
Has anyone used these keypads before? How do I arm my c&K 236i alarm system with it?
Incidentally, the 236i keypad has a "data" wire - is this wire simply a "on/off" function or does it use a data protocol?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks

What do you refer to when you say the strike plate relay?
Thanks for your comments redstorm...its bad news that my keypad wont work with the alarm system. I have read about "loop arming" so Ill try that. Where can i find out more about the protocol for the data bus? I could't find out much searching the internet.
Watchdog, "striker plate relay" was intended to mean a small relay in the keypad that energises the striker plate solonoid when a valid combination is entered at the keypad.
If there is no relay then it probably has an open collector output. This is a transistor that is switched to earth. So you would wire a relay from this output to a positive supply or it may be capable of switching the strike relay directly.Be sure to put a diode in the REVERSE polarity across the relay if you wire it in or the strike relay if you wire directly to the strike. This is to stop back emf from destroying the output transistor when the power is removed. As a matter of interest why dont you just get another C&K codepad and use that?
by the look of things you want to enter a code on your new keypad to
1 Disarm Alarm
2 Unlock lock
Do as restorm has said make a zone on the board a keyswitch depending on outputs on your keyboard you could utilise one for keyswitch and another foor door strike if not could use same output with relays and a delay for strike
Thanks for all the comments..sorry I had a computer failure and was offline for a while. Im going to try Tastech's advice and with some luck things will go well.
