You can also use turn on automatic logon without editing the registry in Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and in Microsoft Windows XP Professional on a computer that is not joined to a domain. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.

Use the F8 key during boot up, and log into safe mode if you can. I use the autologin feature on my MCE 2005 machine and as long as it has power it works. It's not as insecure as not having a login password, and is fairly easy to setup. Once done you can save the regkey and set it up to be easier next time.
1. Control Panel -> User Accounts
2. Change the way users log on or off
3. Tick both boxes and hit 'Apply Options'.
4. Make sure only your account and guest exists (guest can be disabled)
5. Make sure you DON'T have a password
Reboot and click on your name for the first time. It should prompt you again after that.
Fixed, thanks <=-Q-=>
