Uploading new tomtom maps - simple process as cut n paste ?

hey everyone -
I am asking in relation to a tomtom XL of my dads.

We are heading to europe in a few months and would like to use our tom tom over there (western europe set).
Is it as easy as cutting and pasting the europe map files and placing them onto the tomtom MAP folder ? (accessible after connecting the tom tom via USB)

There is a SD slot but no card required ~ i have no idea of the internal memory capability of this tomtom tho.
