Default PLEASE HELP - SelecTV Signal Quality

Need some help please. I have installed a 85cm KU Sat Dish with LNB 11300. I have scanned in the SelecTV channels. Used Freq 12526, Symbol 28800 and Horizontal.

Picked up all the channels but the SelecTV test channel is pixelated and shows signal quality of 48-50%. The strange thing which I don't understand is why some of the channels are 96% signal quality (RAI, Euronews Italy, Syria TV and a few of the arab channels).

I tried to do some fault finding of my own and not sure if this is right but it appears some of the strong signal channels are on V transponder whereas the setting I entered was H. I'm confused and would appreciate if someone could help me get my signal quality up so the test transmission doesn't pixelate. By the way the arab channels are audio and video perfect and are all on the Intelsat 8 sat..... hmm hpe I haven't confused you all...anyway will be checking for your input. Thanks in advance...

Im pulling Discovery RT from 12286 v (on my strong after a blind scan).
Funny thing is its listed as 12286 h on lynsat
Try both v and h, as im not sure if its my strong or lynsat

Put all the select frequncys in and see how you go.

edit, just checked 12525? its running at 78 to 80%
    12286 is running at 98%

You may need to adjust your dish and lnb skew a little

you will need to rotat your LNB slightly the improve you horizontal reception.

Thanks for the advice. Problem fixed. I performed a blind scan on my Strong 4658X and it picked up the channels using V polarisation and without tweaking the LNB have 90% signal quality. I don't fully understand how this works as SelecTV advise to set up using H but anyway it works fine and that is all that matters. Thanks to all.

Yeah funny, my strong also showed up as v, but lyngsat shows it as h.
Your blind scan would have picked up 12286v.
Shows how handy it is to have a blind scan box

Exactly !! Who would have thought that the 48% quality using H was really 90% using V. There I was stuffing around with the LNB and dish for hours.... ARGHHHH... you live and learn. If anyone understands what this is all about I would appreciate understanding. Why does lyngsat and selectv state H and I get a better picture using V????

If you are getting channels from one of the Optus birds on correct polarisation with maximum quality, then your LNB skew is set to Optus satellites.
In the case what you are experiencing with your Strong boxes has a very good explanation for two reasons:
    1. Strong receivers have very sensitive tuners;
    2. LNB skewed that much that LNB vertical coil picking up horisontal signal and visa versa.

Set up your LNB skew correctly and this "problem" will go away, or just remember the skew trick for future and don't do anything else.

There're no Vertical TV channels of Intelsat 8 which can be received in the south east.

Your LNBF orientation is wrong. The LNB has 2 probe antennas inside the wave guide. One for Horizontal and the other which is offset by 90 Degrees for Vertical. When the receiver sends 18volt DC power up to the LNB the Horizontal probe is engaged. When the receiver sends 13Volt to the LNB, Vertical channels will be received. You should restore the original Selectv setting on Horizontal, Rotate the LNB until the signal quality (Not Gain) is at maximum.

For most LNBF the orientation of the F Connectors is pointing to 4 o’clock.

depends where you are in aus, as to the skew of the LNB. perhaps the napa uplink is transmitting on both? don't know, as i can't check IS8 TAm, as family are on C1.

The part that has me laughing is their both at 94 to 98%.
Will go up and fiddle with the lnb this weekend.
All other transponders on pas and optus sats are fine after a blind scan.
    cheers

It's Strong box tuner trick. I bet the picture starts pixelating at 30-40% quality, when other receivers start breaking up at anything below 12%. I witnessed this effect myself with my strong box and DVB-S card.

Well guys, just went outside to look at my old dish that i removed last weekend lying on the ground and the lnb was skewed at 4 oclock.

Looked up at the dish i bought from Mal and put up in its place and the lnb is skewed at 7 oclock.
    I skewed it, not Mal.

    Now saying to myself

Put you receiver into 12286 h, climb up and turn your lnb till you max your signal.
    It should work on h
Just went up, maxed h, lost v
    works fine now.
