Me again always stuffing around and making things worse
I have a I burst desktop modem plugged into a Asus wl-520gc
wireless router via than wan port I got that sought of working
it does drop the internet sometimes
I have 2 computers and the dream plugged in to the
wireless router via the lan plugs on the
router
They all see each other they all go on the internet
even the dream can download games and cams ect
But the dream drops out at random for hours at a time
and for the life of me I have pushed every button changed every ip,
gateway, subnet mask and turned the firewall off and everything else i can
Can anyone suggest something else i can change to make this
dream more happy with the router
I don't understand port forwarding at all and the other features i have no idea about what they do
Any ideas
cheers

Are you cs'ing from one of the pc's on your lan or is your dream a client over the internet?
Either way you shouldn't have to set up port forwarding.
Kavakid thanks for the link
I will check it out now.
warbo over the internet,
thats what i thought as it works and then doesn't

In my router the ip address is the

should they be all the same?

I am still fluffing around with this box
and my router, I get them going for a day or so
And then I leave it all alone and
then the dream drops out
for 4-5 hours LOL (I have tried 2 boxes)
Both boxes can be accessed through my network and both can download
games from the internet
I tried pinging the server ip addy and it times out
and then i tried a online test and that times out,
so I thought it might have had
some problem at the server end (I know they don't)
but now the dream is working and I still don't get a response from the ping tests.
Could both my problems be related dream dropping out
and my ping tests
or
because i don't have a static ip address ???
or
my home network is setup with 192.***.*.*
and the server is setup with 202.***.**.***
would any of these things make a difference.
cheers

The server probably has ping test turned off which means you won't get a response. If you say you know the server is up, then it's got to be your problem.
Strange that it works and then doesn't. Could you be getting an IP conflict from something else on your network that makes it drop off? Again it's strange that you can download games from the dream though.
I don't know your router/modem setup, but if the modems not bridged maybe try plugging the dream straight into the modem bypassing the router and see what happens.
