Most of the later pro versions of Acrobat have an ability to export/save as word docs. There's a few options you have to tweak in order to get the best results depending on how complex the original is.

As already posted there are apps dedicated to this task but in case you already have Acrobat this would save you buying something else.

I use primo pdf, it sets itself up as a printer.
So in your word document you choose file then print and select primopdf as the printer, I use the screen setting it then converts the document into a pdf document.

Other way round, the man wants.

Primo is pretty good for PDF creation though, yes. Also a fan of the Foxit suite. (Hint to Adobe users: Foxit Reader is free, and more lightweight & fast than Adobe Reader).

doh I was tired and read the title back to front

I have only used " Free online file conversion" for converting PDF files to word.

It does the job pretty well, you upload your pdf file and choose the file format you want to convert to, enter your email addy and they email you the link to the converted file. It can take a while for the email to arrive (they warn it may take a hour) and the link only remains active for 24 hours.

Due to its an online service I haven't used it for private docs etc and only use a gmail addy.
