What firmware does the 50PQ60D have on it ? Is it the V3.10.0 ?
If everyone could get over the instant 'LG are shit' syndrome that seems prevalent in many forums, then I wouldn't mind some constructive criticism of LG’s new
These are very new to both LG and the country and are quite obviously built to a price point (RRP$2200.00), however I have an opportunity to purchase one for $1760 and I'm tempted, I've only had one other LG Plasma which is still running and has done now for just on 4 years. I've also had other LG branded products and really haven't been able to fault any of them.
So, fire away.
Thanks.

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Version 3.06.0
What benefits does 3.10 offer??

So has anyone bought one yet?
I've been recommended to use 2 of these in an "overflow" area for viewing video/camera feeds/presentations etc from our main auditorium at our church... any thoughts?
thanks!
Hey mate, not sure if this is any help to you but i bought the 50PG70FD model around 2 weeks ago. Initially got it home, 1 day later it popped, thank goodness they gave me a new one.
So that aside i have also had an older 42 Plasma from LG and there are definately a lot of improvements from the old models - in my experience anyway.
Pic Quality is better
More inputs
Blacks are blacker
Menu system is MUCH improved
I have no issues with the new LG models and think they are great for the prices they go for.
As many will tell you - make sure you get the extended warrenty.
Thanks Toohey,
Given that I will be using the 50PQ60D for daytime viewing (indoors, but no curtains) for a small crowd (30 people max) can you comment on:
- viewing angle
- brightness / contrast in a lighted room
And thanks for the extended warranty suggestion - I didn't even think of that!
I can comment on the viewing angle as we have couches all the way around the TV in a arc shape and no issues seeing the screen. Viewing angle is great.
I'll open up the curtains tonight and see what its like in direct light as we normally watch with the blinds closed.
Thanks for the input guys.
I've gone ahead and purchased one, at the price I indicated above ($1760) hopefully Toohey I didn't get touched
So far I'm quite impressed, I initially installed it right beside my 52" 1080P Sony unit, just to do a side by side comparison and too be honest I feel the 1080i picture on the LG is better, certainly in terrestrial mode channel switching is much faster.
Glad you enjoying the TV mate.
G'Day Group,
I have purchased one of these as well. Nice looking picture indeed. One slight problem though. I have it plugged into a Yamaha RX-V361 via the optical connection. I have disabled the Tv's interanl speakers and set the 'Digital Audio Output' from PCM to Auto. When I change channels from mpeg(or mono) for example channel 10(or 31) to DolbyDigital for example channel 90 (or 70) I get about 1 second of clicking through the speakers. This does not happen going the other way. My firmware is V3.06.0. I wonder if an upgrade to V3.10.0 might fix this. I called LG and they wouldnt email me the upgrade. Im keen to give this a try tho.
Cheers
John
