    Default web-x-tv and vlc

    hey guys,
maybe you can help me. when i use gemini 4.2 on dm500s and try to use web-x-tv / vlc i dont get any picture except the construction cone, on any channel except tv shopping network (tvsn).
however when i use pli 2008 image it works fine.
any ideas? do i need to change some settings or something?

I have had similar issues with some vlc versions.

Try changing your vlc settings to those shown in this image ("Display While Streaming" is optional).

When installing VLC, did you make sure to check "Install Active-X plugin"?

Yes, but i think you should do both. I know dreamview uses active x, i always assumed webXtv does also.

Not really a solution, but you could try . It's a pretty cool app.

I can't get AlJazeera to work on webXtv. I assume it is because i had to edit the pids of another channel (ACC) to program it into the dreambox.

I have to agree with this. I've never had any success with gemini and a few nights ago I tried streaming using iolite.

Was streaming from the dream connected to a wireless access point to a wireless laptop and watched a program for over an hour without any pixellation what so ever.

Just to add the the VLC streaming discussion.. I have had the most success with Web-X streaming with iolite. As stated abouve, ive also done the wireless to laptop thing.. and been very happy with the performance.

Sometime switching between channels I get the construction cone.. but if i choose another channel, its happy again, and then back to the channel that did not work fires up.. rare, but i have had it do that a few times. Mostly thoug.. its been rock solid.

Maybe the clone re-sellers on here should start to listen to you guys and make their lives easier too.

well i have it working on gemini 4.2
but i have noticed since yesterday (this happend in pli image too) after i change the channel a few times in webx than the box stops responding (you can still ping) but there is no picture.
to get it running again i have to reboot the box.

In pli Iolite streaming works Very Well and in WiFi mode.. Simply activate fastzapping in web menu of the dream and install vlc to pc.

I had problems with gemmy but found that I explicitly added the URL to my LAN sites as IE security was preventing the pic coming through properly

I actually got pixelated pics when I added it to TRUSTED sites, but adding it to my LAN sites and setting all the right permissions the pic was perfect.

ive never ever ever gotten this to work correcntly
tried gemini, pli, pli iolite(z80s image for the 500s in the prem.section), cant get it going. Its worked once but its been really pixelated.

can someone dumb it down real good and point me to a step by step guide?

    1. Use firefox only
    2. Where possible use Pli Iolite as it uses 'Zapstream' to stream it without pixalating
    3. Make sure the mozilla plugin is installed in vlc

    Watch this flash movie about how to;

    Install vlc properly -
