    Default Amigo

    Folks,

    ALL the iGO8.3 content works on this release except the languages which need to be Amigo specific.

    This means that you just use all the 8.3 OZ maps, poi's, voices, dem's & building files and put them into the correct folders in Amigo and it works.

    Not sure yet about the speedcam's still playing with that and still playing with TTS.

    It ony works on the specified resolutions and the 8.3 data.zips don't work with Amigo.

    regards

    ps TTS and the speedcams from 8.3 work also on my 128mb PDA

    If you get a regular message saying that it will shutdown in xx seconds then add this to the system.ini in the SAVE folder.
    [interface]
    shutdown_time=0

    NOTE that there still seems to be a problem when you disconnect the device from power as it constantly tells you that it is now running on battery which is annoying.

    pps BE SURE TO READ THE FAQ's IN THE OPENING POST AT THE LINK THAT kochimurali PROVIDED ABOVE

    Hi Dazza, jetmouse has provided a link to voice package, I am not sure if that will help you, I am still trying myself to work my gps because of my resolution. My gps supports only 480x234 resolution. The link ....

    Hi guys, I have got my 7"gps with 480x234 to work, but funny that when it start the gps, the igo loading screen comes and straightaway it goes to sleep mode, then I just click power on and everything comes back to normal. I have not tested the tts. I did not see many members saying that the tts is working!!. Any suggestions for the program going into sleep mode at start!! Thanks everyone for supporting each other and helping all the way. Cheers!

    I love my "Advanced" Settings, Skins and Speed Limits that 8.0xx has, i will give 8.4 a go but wasnt happy with the 8.3 maps, so ive gone back to 8.0xx and R15 maps

    Relax mate, i left a few words out, i edited my post to say i what i ment, that is, i prefer iGO8 8.0xx and if you love your skins, advance setting and things like that, then you will be dissapointed with 8.4
    Like you say yourself 8.4 is full of bugs and the 8.3 maps dodnt have speed limits so dont waste your time on something thats not quite ready

    GPS - setting can be changed in system.ini not sys.txt like before
    Speed Limits - are embedded in the map, so no fix there
    Backlight - no fix
    Loosing GPS Lock - no fix
    Lagging sound - no fix, editing sys.txt doesnt work like before

    Has anyone found a solution to amigo not showing speed limits?
    I have IGO 8.0xxx with Aus R15.1 map which shows speed limits fine, but amigo with same map doesn't.
    It would appear problem is with Aus maps only?

    @crustovich,

    The Aussie map for Amigo and iGO8.3 is a Navteq map not the Sensis R15.1 version which only works with iGO8.0. The lack of speed limits is because the Navteq map simply doesn't have them as yet.

    Thanks Ian,
    I assumed I was using R15.1 as I had loaded it into amigo, but on checking in Amigo, sure enough R15.1 was shown but as an incorrect version and amigo was indeed using the navteq version.
    Do you know if igo are aware of this (speed limit) oversight and plan to correct it, or are we stuck with the inferior maps (in which case I will go back to IGO 8.0xxx) even though I like the amigo program better.

    Cheers Adrian

    @crustovich,

    As far as I know iGO/Nav'nGo do not officially support Australian maps. The R15 maps are from a Uniden Australian GPS and the Navteq 2008.Q3 maps are from a West Australian PDA version. As far as updates are concerned who knows? We just have to wait and see. I know that Magaduck99 provided both the Sensis and Navteq maps and I believe he did notify the local provider about the lack of speed limits but I have not heard if he ever got a reply.

    Cheers, Ian

    There are plenty of skins in Igonavigation.com
