you need to get onto some private sites.....
or use piratebay etc. and read the comments before downloading a torrent file..
Anyone else being pissed off by downloading a movie file which says its xvid, then after you extract the rars or zips you end up with a file which has the right name but now has the file ext .wmv and not avi, you try and play it and windows media player wants you to update codec's or it says missing codec's, encode360 is one cant remember the other but its just a scam for you to download a virus infected codec, grrrrrr

Its not torrents, but i guess the source is torrent, ive been downloading from Easynews for years but lately its all going to crap, fake files, virus's ect
Ive tried changing it to Avi and using VideoLan but its still coloured garbage
My understanding is that you cant just change the file type.
I had a couple of these as well.
Used Xilisoft video Coverter Platinum to code the WMV over to AVI and all was sweet.
Hope this helps.
Im Feeling Wobbly !!!
Yes, alot of movies and programs from Easynews thesedays is just crap. As you know Easynews just skims the newsgroups, so this rubbish is being distributed through the newsgroups to deter people from hunting for programs and movies. While I'm still a member of easynews, I've also joined another group that I'm finding is easier to use and carry alot of programs, movies etc.
There are a lot of fake crap files out there with .wmv extensions. Most of them are under 20Mb in size and will not play with anything.
I actually got one of them to play once and it was an advert for the iPod.
Nothing more than junk, as previous poster stated, designed to get you to download infected codecs which then destroy your system.
PirateBay is your best source still.
In my earlier days I lost count of the number of files I downloaded only to find they were fakes like this, or they were poorly packed
archives with files missing or corrupt. Seems the people compiling them just didn't take enough care in their work.
