You can geat cheap access points(such as Tp Link) which work in 'Client Mode' which will do what you want.
I want to extend my wireless network at home, but not sure how to.
I want to set up a router which connects to another router via wireless only. I think this is called WDS? I have recently purchsed a Dlink DI-524UP for sharing a printer. Howver I don't have any cable connection where I want to locate the printer and there wish the DI-524UP to connect to my network via wirelss, howver not sure how to do this.
Thanks in advance.

I thought some routers offer wireless access point, but I've got about 5 routers at home and I can't seem to find this feature on any of them.
Which models do you have and i can have a look at it.
1/. Linksys WAG54G
2/. Dlink DI524UP
3/. Dlink 604T
4/. Netgear WRG614
5/. DLINK 804
6/. Linksys WRT54gl with DD-wrt (I think this can act as an access point)
7/. A Billion unit packed away and a couple of others as well.
i extend mine with a MINATAR wireless router.
iam a bogan
Have a look at the DD-WRT project website and see if any of your routers are supported. (the Netgear will be if it's Version 8)
If you have a match, load the firmware and then run the router in either client or bridged client mode.
The link to the supported hardware is below
